A group of people chanting incantations they don't even need to understand and adopting various physical postures. So now they do this in a mixed sex group. So what?

Well many people would see that and say  "haraaaaaaaaam" ... anyway, that's what my husband would say if he saw that.   ;D

I cannot see the problem of mixed prayers, why shouldn't they be mixed?

Ask the traditionalists.

@ Samia

What did the people on the Egyptian forum say? What was the general impression their?
10:41 If they deny you, say: "My works are for me, and your works are for you. You are innocent of what I do, and I am innocent of what you do."

According to traditional Islam, the men are supposed to be in the front and the women behind (or in a different room, if it's a mosque).  If it's mixed then the men will be distracted, I guess.   ;)

So women cannot get distracted looking at the men in front of them?
