"Is there anybody here that is actually into philosophy?"

Me, Me ,Me , Me and Me. I love philosophy. Friedrich Nietzsche, Ludwig Wittgenstein, J.L Austen, Jachqes Derrida, Micheal Foucalt, William James, John Dewey, Maurice Merleu-Ponty, Albert Camus, Martin Heidegger, Gilles Deleuze, Edmund Husserl, Alfred North Whitehead, and a host of others. But Friedrich Nietzsche is the best. Lobster I mean no insult but before saying stuff about Nietzsche read his books. And that a good translation of his books. Kaufmann laid the standard in translation of Nietzsche. Most other translations are quite bad. Also theres more than one way to look at Nietzsche. Micheal Foucalt's view of Nietzsche does not match with Feinne's or Devot. Again do not rely on what others say about Nietzsche but his own works. Also for discussing philosophy or philosophers come to this thread http://free-minds.org/forum/index.php?topic=9597506.0 everyone. Or discuss here.

I believe Faucolt was a Nietzschien. I have heard there are some translations that have been better than Kaufmann's translations of Nietzsche's works.

I do not understand the Nietzsche being an idiot remark, but everyone's got an opinion.

"I believe Faucolt was a Nietzschie'' quite right.

I think Kaufmann was the best translater of Nietzsche. Although  R. J. Hollingdale was also a good translater.

Woah I used to think Nietzche was an idiot? I wouldn't call him that anymore even though I think he was wrong on his egoist views. But thanks L.Hu for showing me there's more than that to his philosophy than that. I should read up on him.

Start with Thus Spoke Zarathustra: A Book for None and All. Its quite exhilariting. So much so that in WWI it was givin to German soliders along with Bible as a inspirational book (Ironically Nietzsche hated his nations milatary so its funny thay 14 years after his death German soliders were reading his book). And its easy to understand. Also very poetic and deep. Although it is misleading. Ideas that never appear any were else in his other books like eternal recurence and the superman are central to this books theme. So you can get a false impression of his central views from the work. But still unusally empowering and disturbingly inspirational. Start there. And if you take my word try Kaufmann's translation.

Nietzche was an idiot.

Peace,
Respectfully.

Wasn't he in love with his sister?
I man, that's a bit nuts.

Peace.

I kind of like Ayn Rand. I'm no philosophy buff though.
