In the name of God, most merciful, most compassionate.
Peace be with you.

I'm watching Poltergeist on TCM now.
That this is supposed to be scary, is even scarier  ;D

Peace be with you.

In case bro Zein checks out this thread: Sympathy For Lady Vengeance was one of the best black comedies I've seen, that's more than just that. Well done, well directed, visually delicious and the scene at the end was awesome in it's elements, that showcased some of the threads running through it beautifully.

Peace SC,

Sounds good... I'll be sure to check it out. I recently watched Iron Man and The Forbidden Kingdom, both fun movies. :)

Can't wait for KungFu Panda. ;D

One of the best movies I've ever seen is an animated movie, and it's quite old now. It's called "Batman: Mask of the Phantasm" and it's what made me a huge Batman fan. I highly recommend the movie.

Peace bro,

I saw Forbidden Kingdom today, was quite good...I see they are using the old school format partly. Couldn't help but think of Samurai Jack when they did Mantis. Kung fu Panda is on my list too! Iron man I'll pass on, since it's the superhero thing which they make a mess of...

Regarding Batman supernaut, the comics were what got me really into it...the one where Joker dies and there's the joker backstory which was amazingly well done (I think it was in the 90's). Can't remember the issue name but recall borrowing it from someone.

Are you talking about the one in which the Joker was a poor comedian who had a girlfriend to take care of? I haven't read that one and I don't I want to either because I like the old Joker, the one who's life of crime started as a mysterious hitman with a mysterious origin. I like that the old Joker is one of two criminals in Batman who became a criminal simply because a life of crime attracted them. Most of the other villians, like Mr. Freeze became villians after a tragic incident, but the Joker is just twisted and sadistic. That's the Joker I like.

No, it wasn't that one. He had a wife I think, I thought the story was quite poignant and well told. I don't particularly like a slew of villians in comics, thus never really got into the whole superhero thing since they do that usually, at least the long running ones and for good reason I suppose. I prefer one or two well done ones and a tight consistent story...that ends.

*the gf thing got me thinking and I looked it up, apparently we are talking about the same one (killing joke) and he had a wife not a gf. Sorry didn't remember the comedian thing.

I like that superheros have all these super villian enemies because though it makes the story very unbelievable (which is not necessarily a bad thing) it also makes it bigger, deeper and more layered. It excites me to know that there's a whole community of unique villians who all seek to destroy just one person.

Another movie I recommend is also based on a comic series (DC I think). It's called "V for Vendetta". I absolutely love the movie because the protagonist (V) stands for everything I do.

savage_carrot

I prefer the layering to be of a different sort I suppose. I've seen V, was alright. By standing for everything you do, I hope that doesn't mean running about in a mask and scaring the quack out of those that see you...
