The Quran emphasizes the equality of men and women in value. It highlights that the only superiority is in individual piety. In other words, people are equal, and only those who are more pious are considered superior in the eyes of Allah.
In this section, I aim to demonstrate that women are not inferior to men in terms of physical and mental aspects (the brain is also physical). I hope that breaking down some prejudices and beginning to see the truth will be beneficial.
Let's list a few things where men seem superior, at least for now:
Men have stronger bodies than women.
If a man sexually harasses a woman, it can ruin her life, but if a woman harasses a man, it might honor him and fill him with the joy of life.
In intelligence games like chess, world champions are always men. Only a few women have achieved significant ranks.
Nobel laureates and inventors of important discoveries are mostly men.
Even in cooking, where women are considered experts, men are the dominant figures. The inventors of significant dishes like Iskender Kebab and the best chefs in the world are generally men.
The prominent philosophers and thinkers throughout history have overwhelmingly been men.
The majority of world leaders have been and continue to be men.
These are just a few things that come to mind.
In my subsequent posts, I will explain the areas where women excel, even in aspects like physical strength, where women can surpass men. When the topics mentioned above are examined in depth, we will see that there are significant overlooked points in some of these areas.
Let's begin to break some misconceptions about the physical strength and endurance where men are thought to be obviously superior.
Yes, men are stronger, but:
Women are more resilient to pain.
Women generally live longer than men (although some attribute this to men working in more dangerous and stressful jobs).
Women are more resistant to stress.
In a fight or life-or-death struggle, women can keep their bodies more balanced and stay on their feet longer.
Women's bodies are more flexible. This is why many female wrestlers can easily pin male wrestlers in serious tournaments.
The upper bodies of men are significantly stronger than those of women, but the situation changes below the waist.
Women's leg strength is quite close to that of men.
In fact, women's hip strength, which involves scissor-holding opponents with their legs, is greater than that of men. This is the only area where women are physically stronger than men in terms of applying force.
Therefore, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu techniques, which are learned in training, benefit women greatly. With the techniques learned there, a woman can easily overpower a man (techniques that use the lower body).
Occasionally, women surpass men in deep diving records or car racing, which are also physical achievements.
It has been suggested recently that women are more resistant to hunger and thirst.
We have indicated that women's physical strength is not significantly inferior to men's.
So why don't women produce world champion chess players? And why do men generally win in this game?
I think there are a few main reasons for this:
Women are not as free as men in society. From a young age, they are burdened with household chores and similar responsibilities.
In contrast, boys always have plenty of time for fun. This allows them to develop many hobbies, from computer games to chess. Boys who become passionate about chess at a young age can become experts in adulthood. Women don't have this chance as much.
Additionally, boys are encouraged and sent to courses.
Chess is actually a war game. The pieces represent the military units of ancient Indian armies. You don't see violence on the board, but the goal is to defeat the opposing army.
Girls do not like novels, movies, or games related to war as much. This might be a factor in their lack of interest in chess compared to boys.
The strategies, tactics, famous openings, and continuations developed in chess have all been the products of men, and therefore, they are more suited to male characteristics.
Just as the character and strategies of games vary from nation to nation, there should be differences in strategy and playing techniques between men and women in chess. For example, Germans and English, being more cold-blooded, can play very good defense with their solid nerves. In contrast, a Brazilian might be more effective by playing offensively due to their warm-blooded nature. Or while people from northern countries play simple and team games, people from southern, warmer climates achieve success with more creative and individual play.
Similarly, women should develop strategies, game plans, and techniques that suit their character and features to challenge men and achieve superiority in this game. Adopting techniques designed by men according to their character is a mistake.
I would like to add the following about the topic.
When comparing a man and a woman, one thing is forgotten.
Even among men, those who are more muscular and larger are stronger.
Naturally, a more muscular and larger man will be stronger than a woman with less muscle mass, just as this is the case among men.
But when comparing a man and a woman with the same muscle-fat-bone ratio and the same height and weight, we will see that there is not much difference in strength.
Yes, men will still be slightly stronger and faster because their hormones give them this advantage. However, women's flexibility, balance, and other advantages make the situation almost equal. The difference becomes very small.
HERE IS AN EXAMPLE (WRESTLING)
Michaela Hutchison made history in the USA in 2006 by winning the Alaska state wrestling championship in her weight category of 103 pounds, defeating male opponents. This was a historic achievement as it was the first...
As support for my thesis, here are matches of two female wrestlers (in the Jiu-Jitsu style) who have competed and won against male opponents in the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu men's category:
