Salam Aleikum my dear brothers and sisters. I want to talk about Surah 29 ayat 48. In my belief this is Allah letting us know in this ayat that The Prophet Mohammed wrote the Quran himself. As it says "And you were not (able) to recite a Book before this (Book came), nor are you (able) to transcribe it with your right hand: in that case, indeed, would the talkers of vanities have doubted."
-In this verses Allah confirms that Mohammed could neither read or write. So that is the proof that when Mohammed wrote the Quran he did it by the Will of Allah. If he had been able to write before then there would have been no proof that the Quran was from Allah. And since Mohammed could speak already, there would be no proof that if he would have shared the Quran orally that it was from Allah. The only proof comes out of the miracle that he could not write before, and he could not read before, but Allah made him write and then read. It is a miracle that can be compared with the virgin Marys birth of Jesus. She was untouched, but still by Allahs will she became pregnant with the prophet Jesus.

And also the Quran itself says that it was revealed in the month of Ramadhan. And if the Allah tells us something in the Quran, thats the way it is. So my full belief is that The Prophet Mohammed wrote the Quran himself and then reading it to his people within the month Ramadhan.

What do you guys say about this? I would love to discuss this since I have not had any good oppurtunity to really have this talk with someone yet.

Take care everybody. Peace

Wakas

Welcome DanielTheSwede;

Both the verses and archaeological evidence indicate that the Quran was compiled into a book during the time of the Prophet. However, in addition to this, I believe the verses do not state that Muhammad was illiterate. The expression there conveys that the Prophet had not previously read any sacred book. In other words, it is explained that someone who had no prior knowledge or mastery of the contents of other books conveyed the Quran to us.

good logic

Peace DanielTheSwede.

You may have come across this view ,quote:

"The Muslim scholars decided to proclaim Muhammad an illiterate man! They figured that this would make the Quran's extraordinary literary excellence truly miraculous. The word they relied on to bestow illiteracy upon the Prophet was "UMMY." Unfortunately for those "scholars," this word clearly means "Gentile," or one who did not follow any scripture (Torah, Injeel, or Quran) [see 2:78, 3:20, 3:75, 62:2]; it does NOT mean "illiterate."

The Prophet was a successful merchant. The "Muslim scholars" who fabricated the illiteracy lie forgot that there were no numbers during the Prophet's time; the letters of the alphabet were used as numbers. As a merchant dealing with numbers every day, the Prophet had to know the alphabet, from one to one-thousand. The Quran tells us that Muhammad wrote down the Quran - Muhammad's contemporaries are quoted as saying,

[Quran 25:5] They also said, "Tales from the past that he wrote down; they were dictated to him day and night."

You cannot "dictate" to an illiterate person. The Prophet's enemies who accuse him of illiteracy abuse Verse 29:48, which relates specifically to previous scriptures.

(Before Hijerah), Muhammad the soul, the real person, not the body, was summoned to the highest universe and the Quran was given to him (2:97, 17:1, 44:3, 53:1-18, 97:1-5).

Subsequently, the angel Gabriel helped Muhammad release a few verses of the Quran at a time, from the soul to Muhammad's memory. The Prophet wrote down and memorized the verses just released into his mind.

When the Prophet died, he left the complete Quran written down with his own hand in the chronological order of revelation, along with specific instructions as to where to place every verse. The divine instructions recorded by the Prophet were designed to put the Quran together into the final format intended for God's Final Testament to the world (75:17)."

I have some questions for people who read Qoran and still believe Muhammed was illeterate:

1- Does GODs choose an illiterate person to do the job of delivering Qoran?
2- Why does Qoran indicate that the prophet was someone trustworthy and capable of doing the job which includes reading and writing as essential tools?
3- How can any good leader and pioneer be illiterate, or remain as such and make a good lob of his tasks?
4- Where in Qoran do they find any verse/indication that Muhammed was illiterate?

It is a lie and makes no sense at all.
GOD bless you.
Peace.

Welcome to the forum DanielTheSwede

Peace good logic, all

It just seems so strange to me that the translators of the word Alif-Miim-Miim
would assume that Muhammad was illiterate if the choices are:

ummi: belonging to mother, unlettered, Arab, who have no revealed scripture of their own

As was the case with the Arabs who had no revealed scripture of their own prior to Islam.   :nope:

God bless
