Is there no way to see new notifications now?

If you see beside of REPLY button, then you see the NOTIFY button. It will give you a choice to get notifications on this thread.

I did but I still don't get them. :/ Are they supposed to go into messages?

I don't know dear sister. I actually have not tried it. It's possible you may not have the browser notifications on in your browser.
