Solomon and Sheba

I opened this thread because one of you asked me about the exact area of Solomon reign and i could only quote the northern reign City by Name.

Now ,i Looking for the southern reign part this i difficult for it is not mentioned any City by Name in quran only the a neighbouring reign of Sheba.


So what do you know about Saba.

Do you really believe that it is a Queen from the arab Country where the Woman has the lower rank in Society .


In Countries where the Prophet had to bring the people the Message not to burie the Girls, will hardly be the historically playground to look for.

i would give more credits for the ethopia Thesis.

I withdraw from the ethopia(modern ethopia)Thesis because there is a wider meaning of it and ethiopia is the width of Africa and extends into Southern .

Also there are no archeological proof of a Queen of that might in modern ethopia but you find that kind of ruler in Egypt that would be not far from Sulaymans reign.

This indicates that it has to be a Kingdom not far from Suleymans Kingdom and so Jemen and ethopia are out of con-sideration.

And in the North it doesnt exist ,so it only can be Egypt or further in the west.

What is Arab?

You make an assumption that the culture of some people living in some area in certain times, is the same culture of some people living in some other area at another times.

1. Birds are known to have a very far seasonal migration path, can be up to 20,000 KM.

2. I have doubt on the cognitive ability of birds,thus they can understood human complex thought such as religion / tradition thus it can conclude that "Look I saw some human do stupid stuff such as worshiping the sun! and in other area worshiping a black stone!"

Having said that:
If based on the assumption that Solomon = King of a kingdom in Canaanite region and Sheba = Queen of a kingdom in the southern arabia / north eastern africa region controlling the strategic strait between Red Sea and Indian ocean.
Then I say it's possible that those two kingdoms developed some kind of a diplomatic relationship. Those two region are within the path of West-East trade routes (a.k.a Ancient Maritime Silk Road), Silks from China, Spices from Indonesia and India are traded with Wheat from Egypt, Pearls and Ivory from East Africa and Metal / Metal based products based from Greece and Middle East.

There are 3 choke points within the trade path which many empire since ancient times (up until today) have fought each others in a war to gain control of.
1. Strait of Melacca, between today's Indonesia and Malaysia linking Indian ocean with South China Sea
2. Strait of Aden, between today's Djibouti, Eritrea, Somalia and Yemen linking the Red Sea and Indian Ocean
3. Strait of Hormus, between today's Iran, UAE and Oman linking Persian Gulf and Indian Ocean

Hundred of wars between hundred of empire / dynasty has been fought trying to gain control over those choke points.
As those who do can gain additional revenue from taxes over trade that is flowing through those choke points.

So is this "Sheba" queen of (today's) Yemen, Djibouti, Eritrea, Ethiophia or Somalia?
Given totally different geopolitical context compared to today, she could be the queen of all or some of them.

The sura Saba is indicating that from the Residency of the queen to the blessed towns there are towns with Grand structures.

And it also says that it is an easy journey .

And We placed between them and the towns which We had blessed, towns easy to be seen, and We made the stages (of journey) between them easy (saying): "Travel in them safely both by night and day."

Now one can asume that the blessed towns in the vers above are Mekka and Medina that would fit but where are the towns easy to be seen between Mekka and Jemen?

Now, if there are not visible towns to be found between Mekka and the "Jemenite Saba" there are only few Locations left for Saba and the only matriachaic Environment next to Solomons reign is west of it .
