3:38-39 Zakariya Prayed for a son, and he was answered while he was standing praying
The word Salat does not occur these verses, it's dua. Here is the arabic text & transliteration.

3:38
هنالك دعا زكريا ربه قال رب هب لى من لدنك ذرية طيبة انك سميع الدعاء
Hunalika daAAa zakariyyarabbahu qala rabbi hab lee min ladunka thurriyyatantayyibatan innaka sameeAAu aldduAAa/-i

3:39
فنادته الملئكة وهو قائم يصلى فى المحراب ان الله يبشرك بيحيى مصدقا بكلمة من الله وسيدا وحصورا ونبيا من الصلحين
Fanadat-hu almala-ikatu wahuwaqa-imun yusallee fee almihrabi annaAllaha yubashshiruka biyahya musaddiqanbikalimatin mina Allahi wasayyidan wahasooranwanabiyyan mina alssaliheena

Are the appointed times on daily, weekly, monthly or yearly basis, please state your reference in the quran?

When we say he is working day and night, does it mean he is working from sunrise to sunset?

On the sujud li adam it addresses the mala'ika, can you explain why a jin was queried if he was not instructed?

Are you sure he was not ordered to do SAJADA?

7:12  قَالَ مَا مَنَعَكَ أَلَّا تَسۡجُدَ إِذۡ أَمَرۡتُكَ‌ۖ قَالَ أَنَا۟ خَيۡرٌ۬ مِّنۡهُ خَلَقۡتَنِى مِن نَّارٍ۬ وَخَلَقۡتَهُ ۥ مِن طِينٍ۬

SAHIH INTERNATIONAL
[ Allah ] said, "What prevented you from prostrating (?)when I commanded you?" [Satan] said, "I am better than him. You created me from fire and created him from clay."

East and west are mentioned many times in the Quran, can you point to me where north or south are mentioned, or do they not exist?

Allah choose words precisely

East and west are used to determine time on the basis of earth movement. North and south are used for directions and not with reference to time in my humble opinion.

From your understanding of 18:17 where do think the cave is facing?

Yes my reference is common sense. Every language has idioms and phrases and people understand language accordingly.
