Writer Texe Marrs is talking about the reasons for the Egyptian pharaohs ' obsession in bringing the legs and arms diagonally to the position:

İn ancient Egypt, the mark of "X" and the symbol of cross-bones in the symbol of an X was very prominent in religious contexts. You can find the X on the walls of a number of ancient Egyptians temples and pyramids... It is the sign of Osiris, the great sun God..
The ancient pharaohs, when they were buried, had the legs crossed in the form of "X" as a sign of devotion to Osiris.''

Correction:
Osiris was God of Harvest.

which somehow earn a promotion to become God of Afterlife.

He is the one who will judge the soul when his/her deed was being weighted on a scale as described in the Holy Book of the Dead (also authored and written by Gods)

Osiris (seated) judging the soul of the dead as his deed is being weighted on a scale..

Osiris once was a human.. loved by the people and become a figure of worship of a religion after his death..
I've covered it here:

How Religion Get Started: Book Of Jasher & Osiris

Egyptian Sun God is RA and not Osiris...

Quote
This may explain why the pharaoh in the past has been talking about a crossing of limbs and arms as a threat.
20:70 So the magicians went down in prostration. They said, "We acknowledge the Lord of Aaron and Moses."

20:71 He said, "Have you acknowledged him before taking my permission? He is surely your great one who has taught you magic. So, I will cut off your hands and feet from alternate sides( in x/cross shape), and I will crucify you on the trunks of the palm trees, and you will come to know which of us is greater in retribution and more lasting!"

How comforting it is to know that apparently such horrible torturing method of the Pharaoh is also being adopted by the author of Quran as one of his/their approved method of punishment.

"The punishment of those who wage war against Allah and His Apostle, and strive with might and main for mischief through the land is: execution, or crucifixion, or the cutting off of hands and feet from opposite sides, or exile from the land: that is their disgrace in this world, and a heavy punishment is theirs in the Hereafter."
-- Quran 5:33

It is bewildering how a puny human could wage war against "The Universal Ultimate", since everything (supposed to be) happened in accordance to His plan...

On Crucifixion...
Crucifixion was not the 'classic' Ancient Egyptian torture method...
There were no hieroglyph description of such practice ever being found...

Apparently it was invented by the Greeks..
"They crucified him with hands and feet stretched out and nailed to cross-pieces."
-- Histories, Herodotus, 479 BC

And then adopted by the Romans... before widespread throughout neighboring area (such Arabian peninsula) thanks to Jesus which popularized such horrible method of death punishment.

And then picked up by the author of the Quran as among the "approved punishment" for those who dare to "rebel" against his / their authority.

Quote
The tradition of holding arms and legs in position X can also be seen in other pagan applications around the world. For example, Hindus cross the legs while meditating in the Far East.

 :rotfl:
Crossing the legs during meditation is solely based for the purpose of comfort..
You can see it on any Mosques as well.. people sitting on the floor.. crossing their legs...

Can you imagine one meditating while squatting???

 Codex Magica (Texe Marrs)

The X-mark in Pagan Egyptian religion is the cross-mark was holy:

These ancient Egyptian figures demonstrate how prevalent was Osiris' sacred sign, "X."

The mummy of Rameses the Great (1279-1213 B.C.) was found in this cedarwood sarcophagus. This pharaoh is thought by Egyptologists to be the ruler who enslaved the Israelites and forced them to build cities.

Painting from the Tomb of Rameses I, Valley of the Kings, West Thebes, in Egypt.

The identity of the legends is also confirmed by this hieroglyphic picture, copied from an ancient Egyptian monument, which may also enlighten you as to the Lion's grip and the Master's gavel.

Codex Magica

TEXE MARRS

This may explain why the pharaoh in the past has been talking about a crossing of limbs and arms as a threat.

20:63 They said, "These are but two magicians who want to take you out of your land with their magic, and they want to do away with your ideal way.

20:64 "So agree upon your scheme, then come as one front. Whoever wins today will succeed."

20:65 They said, "O Moses, either you cast down or we will be the first to cast down."

20:66 He said, "No, you cast down." So their ropes and staffs appeared from their magic as if they were moving.

20:67 Moses held some fear in himself.

20:68 We said, "Do not fear, you will best them."

20:69 "Cast down what is in your right hand; it will consume what they have made. They have only made the work of a magician, and the magician will not succeed no matter what he does."

20:72 They said, "We will not prefer you over the proofs that have come to us, and over the One who initiated us. So issue whatever judgment you have, for you only issue judgment in this worldly life."

This crossover mark was blessed in the pagan Egyptian religion, and so was especially the rituals of cross arms and legs.

The tradition of holding arms and legs in position X can also be seen in other pagan applications around the world. For example, Hindus cross the legs while meditating in the Far East.

For this reason, the known forces in the world often use the X/crosswise sign as well as the pyramids and single eye signs from the Egyptians.

20:70 So the magicians went down in prostration. They said, "We acknowledge the Lord of Aaron and Moses."

peace, why they said Moses and Aaron in other verses?

7:121-122 قالوا said they of امنا believe we of برب in lord العلمىن the worlds inhabitants رب lord موسى Moses وهرون and Aaron
26:47-48   قالوا said they of امنا believe we of برب in lord العلمىن the worlds inhabitants رب lord موسى Moses وهرون and Aaron

فلاقطعن so surely severs I اىدىكم hands yours وارجلكم and feet yours من from خلاف opposite -- symbolic for making one helpless.

Likewise there is no word "cross/crucify" rather backbone/spine as in?

86:7 ىخرج evicted من from بىن between الصلب the backbone/spine والتراىب and the ribs

Here are all three versions retelling of episode which is a translation into Arabic from the language spoken at the time otherwise ?quotes? would be verbatim...

7:123-124 قال said فرعون Firaun امنتم believe you به in him قبل before ان that اذن I permit لكم to you ان indeed هذا this لمكر surely plan مكرتموه planned have thou it فى in المدىنه the town لتخرجوا to thou evict ye of منها therein اهلها family hers فسوف so soon تعلمون knowing لاقطعن surely severs I اىدىكم hands yours وارجلكم and feet yours من from خلاف opposite ثم furthermore لاصلبنكم surely backbones I you اجمعىن all together

20:71 قال said امنتم believe you له to him قبل before ان that اذن I permit لكم to you انه indeed he لكبىركم surely great yours الذى the one علمكم taught you السحر the magic فلاقطعن so surely severs I اىدىكم hands yours وارجلكم and feet yours من from خلاف opposite ولاصلبنكم and surely backbones I you فى in جذوع trunks النخل the date palm ولتعلمن and surely know you اىنا which of us اشد vigorous عذبا punishment of وابقى and lasts

No Quran is not a book of symbols. He says the physical one.

and 5:33 verse about self defense and retaliation.

In short, crossing is about self defense and retaliation to attacker pagans (Who cuts the Muslims in X shape).

5:33 The recompense of those who fight God and His messenger and seek to corrupt the land, is that they will be killed or crucified or that their hands and feet be cut off on alternate sides or that they be banished from the land. That is a disgrace for them in this world. In the Hereafter, they will have a great retribution.

peace all,

Indeed, the penalty for those who wage war against Allah and His Messenger = (Godly people/peacemakers) and strive upon earth corruption = ( people like cyborg movie villan ) is none but that they be killed or crucified or that their hands and feet be cut off from opposite sides = (cut/control/mark their resources/weapons as well as their manpower) or that they be exiled from the land. That is for them a disgrace in this world; and for them in the hereafter is a great retribution.
except for those who return before you apprehend them. And know that Allah is Forgiving and Merciful.  (5:33-34)

i already discuss this thing

background

author gives you three options and in last the natural option which shows mercy and forgiveness

the people who are cruel as history witness them as bloodthirsty monsters being reffered there = these are people who are in war against God= war against the system of God = war  against peace ..

first option = kill/crucify them (whatever you can do) for saving your womens and kids from these monsters

second option = get them as war captives by controlling their manpower (also mark them in chains like X shape chains what we see in hardcore prison  ;) from foot to hands )

third option = make them exile from land ( history of australia) put them somewhere they cant be able to come back on their own..

fourth option if they repent then leave them

does  it make a sense now?

first two options are also applied by all law making bodies throughout the world (my two cents)  :peace:

This is not controlling or driving car.

Cut the hands and feet crosswise.

Just like the pharaoh did to the Muslims.

Just like the other pagans do to Muslims.

If you read verses in integrity, you'll see the pagan do them to Muslims (crucified or X shape cutting hands and feet or banished from the land) .

And 5:33 about self defence and retaliation.

These are  retaliation and allowance.

Forgiveness is at the forefront of every crime. Even in the murder, forgiveness is in the foreground, but there is a license to execution  too.

***

In theft,  according to the size of the theft is done, by jailing/power cutting, real hand cutting or mark it by scratching.

Peace.

Fir3awn is a person, who is given that name in the Qur'an it is not an officatitle or official title. Yusuf inthe Qur'an lives in a place that has several gates. as can be read in the Sura Yusuf. Anciente Egypt did not have several gates through which could enter at the same time the different brothers of Yusuf.

It heinous how history and the Qur'an are being distorted and adulterated so that the Bible stories continue to shape our knowledge of history and God. Not even Christians or Jews take the Bible as factual history, but here are Muslims paying tribute to ethnic literature.

There is nothing wrong with finding the spiritual gems of the different books that make up the Bible, but to worship the whole collection of books that constitue the Bible, as factual undisputable history an impose it on the Qur'an is horrendous.

Any amount of nonsense and dark ideas can be thrown on aciente Egypt mailigning a whole civilasation which outlasted any civilisation we know of, but never mind, those are lesser persons and they can be maligned. And the Qur'an can be held as nonsense,  provided the Bible remains sacred, not for Christians or Jews, who finally know what it is and take it for what it is, but for Muslims, who donot know what it is, nor know how to take it.

Fantastic! No enemy can do to Muslims what Muslims do to themsleves. Great, really great.

And this 5.33 is a marvel of discrediting a divine book and a religion merely by refusing to see what it says and substituting absolute illogicality.

Pitiful all right.

Salaam

Of course, this crosswise  proves that the event has passed in antic Egyptian civilization.

It gives us a better understanding, of why they using today, the X-mark alongside the pyramid and one-eye markers.

And the Quran only religious source that gave the knowledge, they make cross the feet and arms in the Egyptian civilization.

As I said in the meantime, ancient Egyptian civilization could have a wider territory than is believed.

It doesn't have to be limited to today's Egyptian soil, where the pyramids are located.

But it's definitely happening in ancient Egyptian civilization.
