Sodom and Gomorrah

I want to share this excellent BBC documentary on Sodom and Gomorrah.  These cities of the plains are also mentioned in Quran in the story of Lot.  The documentary researches the hypothesis whether this apocalyptic could have actually taken place at the borders of the Dead Sea while using modern scientific tools and they come to an astonishing conclusion which will require much more future research to be done:

Bible archaeologist claims to have discovered Sodom

Tall el-Hammam (Jordan) - After ten years excavation in Tall el-Hammam Jordan to American Bible archaeologists show convinced to have an unusually massive and large Bronze Age city found the biblical Sodom. The city-state had found the southern Jordan Valley dominates, but then was - was suddenly abandoned for about 700 years old - from a hitherto mysterious reason. As an explanation archaeologist claims to have found evidence of even a huge explosion of an object in the sky above the city.
