"Love your brother as you love yourself"

So why do we need to do any more than "Love your brother as you love yourself" for our experience of this World?

To do that would solve much of the problems in the world. A problem is that people think it only includes people from your own sect.

The problem is that most people are selfish but that does not mean that they love themselves. Many people do not love themselves or feel so. That is the big problem. And what does love oneself means.

On the other hand it is a bit silly to say love whoever. It is not like pushing a button. It is a very big job. Like asking you to love spinchs when in fact yu may vomit just having the smell of them. It is a whole overhaul.  There is no magic solution for anything.

Indeed we have divided our selves so much that we don't see ourselves as brothers and sisters in the unity of humanity, we still hold on to the self righteousness of or division.

How can we change that?

This forms part of the Golden Rule, Muhammad (pbuh) is the one who stated this, it  is also stated by all religions and faiths, it is a commonality throughout, why could we not unite through this commonality, essentially meaning do onto others as you would have them do onto you.

There would not need to have any Hadiths or instructions on defending yourself as you would not have anyone do on to you that that you would not do onto them?

This is why one needs more patience and tolerance. And obviously love does not mean love unconditionally and it is also a way of saying, if that is not clear already. But many people look to themselves first and their pockets and wellbeing while their brother always comes after them. The phrase may be intended to be understood: "Treat others as you would like to be treated yourself". Of course there are deluded people who are in a mental state that they do not know what this means.

For example; try to put oneself in the shoes of another person may help on the matter of figuring out how one should treat someone, but not all people care to even think that far. But then there are also people who do.

But in essence,  the original saying tells people not to be selfish. It is a very humble expression.

But one problem is that many people only care for their own kin and we have problems with forgiving.

A change in our attitudes. It is an intricate problem really since it is a greater attitudinal issue. But we have to work on the group identity obsession and also many who belong to sects need to think over what their doctrine teaches.

It's quite simple, they don't see each other as "brother against brother". That's the problem and I don't mean all of them but there is the ideology that they are guided and the others misguided or even infidels and that is worse to them than a Christian or a Jew. because to them it is rejection of truth after been given or seeing it. Instead of seeing each others as bro's/sisters it's infidels, rafidi's or whatever else.

People have become their own God in judging others.

6:159 (Asad) VERILY, as for those who have broken the unity of their faith and have become sects - thou hast nothing to do with them. Behold, their case rests with God: and in time He will make them understand what they were doing

42:15 (Asad) Because of this, then,  summon [all mankind], and pursue the right course, as thou hast been bidden [by God]; and do not follow their likes and dislikes, but say: ?I believe in whatever revelation God has be?stowed from on high; and I am bidden to bring about equity in your mutual views. God is our Sustainer as well as your Sustainer. To us shall be accounted our deeds, and to you, your deeds. Let there be no contention between us and you: God will bring us all together - for with Him is all journeys? end.?

Yes, dear sister SarahY. They consider themselves above others due to their perceived piety and the illusion that Quran has a sharp tone against people who are "disbelievers" or "unworthy"; together these reinforce that behavior, so blind faith in hearsay together with this disbeliever illusion creates the these conditions. Hypocritical piety has been an issue in the past and people generally miss the fact the faith is mostly about deed and behavior. People compete in piety rather than think straight, and those far behind, in their eyes, are considered unworthy, unclean, disbeliever or whatever label they give them. It becomes a bit of racism and fascism.

Yes, I utilised the "love your brother" interpretation as at the foundation of our humanity that is what is missing in the most part, treating each other as you would like to be treated is still limited by the confines of the environment which includes you point on "people look to themselves first and their pockets and wellbeing". Indeed this is most accurate, so are we bound to the saying which is from God but in reality we worship survival even worse wealth first? Are we not all sinners then as we need money for survival? Does the Quran fail on this front when it guides us to do what is not practically possible in reality?
