How do you get a picture/photo on to a post?
« on: June 09, 2014, 06:49:16 PM »
Someone pls help...

How do you get an image on to a post - yes I know there is an 'image' button, but how do I get that to work, how do I get an image from my computer on to a post? Have tried: opening an image on my computer and trying to copy and paste it here, but no joy.

Please explain in simple language my simple mind can understand.

Thanks in advance. :handshake:

Usually there are two ways to use an image in a forum post.

1) Using the 'image' button, which will display the 'img' tags and you place the URL of an image between these tags, like this:

[img ]http://www.example.com/image.png[/img]

Please note [img ] should actually be [img] without the space, but I typed the space so that this post displays correctly.

OR

2) Uploading an image as an attachment to a post.

On this forum, I don't see an option to upload images as an attachment (number 2 above), so the only option you have is to use the [img] tags (number 1 above).  To use the [img] tags, you need to have your image uploaded somewhere online so that it has a URL.  To upload your image online, there are many free image upload services which let you upload images for free.  A good one at the moment is http://postimage.org/
After you have uploaded your image, you will be provided with the image URL which you can use between the [img] tags as shown in the example above.

If your image is already published somewhere online, you can alternatively use the URL of the image from the internet inside the [img] tags.

Peace,

The only way I have discovered is to link to an image stored somewhere else on the Internet. I made a Flickr (photo storage hosting service) account just for this purpose.

God bless you
