Hi guys. I was born in Italy a country with a strict catholic vision and.. why not? I can say islamophobic.
I started my reading of the Qur'an two years ago, when I was 18, why? Because all I wanted to know was "why they believe in that horrible things?", but the truth was another one... I didn't know anything about the Qur'an. And so I started my life as a muslim... Without the Sunna? Yes, but not because I didn't want to follow the Sunna, but to be honest... Just because I didn't know what even the existence of the Sunna that's why I never felt the need of call myself "muslim" or to live in a muslim community all I wanted and still want to do is "to live as Qur'an says".

By the way a started my reading of the al-Jāmiʿ al-ṣaḥīḥ and the first thing I thought was "How could that be possible?". The Sunna teach different things from the Qur'an first of all... And yes a lot of Sunni say "The Qur'an says to follow the Prophet" yes I know that, but how can I be sure that what is written in the Sunna is really what the Prophet done?
The history is written by the winner and to modify the Qur'an is not that easy... But to put some shit (yes I have to say, shit) into a book is so simple...

And by the way neither I nor the Sunni (or any other muslim) can say what is the truth and what's not. God/Allah will judge us all, full stop.

Greetings and Peace, all  :group:

@AbdulrahimSaberIV:  :welcome:

Religion is just a tool, and when used right it is one that we use rather than one that uses us.

The interesting thing about Sunna is that when one abides by the teachings of the Qur'an, one follows the Sunna of ALL of the Prophets and Messengers (Peace upon ALL Prophets and Messengers)--after all, the core Message has remained the same. If religion consists of following the teachings of a Prophet (Christianity-Jesus, Judaism-Moses, etc.) then technically one who abides by AQ is simultaneously a muslim, a Christian, and an adherent of Judaism.  :)

May ALLAH see fit to Guide all seekers.

:peace:
