Quran was revealed one shot in one night.

Leylatou el qadr (97-1) is night of measure. (qadr is used also here 73-20 ;54-49).

So we can understand it as night of perfect measure for example between the length of day and length of night. It is an equinox day.

but quran was revealed also in shahr ramadhan (2-185) : According to brother ayman Shahr means Full moon

According to brother pazuzu, ramadhan is period of first rains in autumn

والرَّمَضِيُّ من السحاب والمطر: ما كان في آخر القَيْظِ وأَوّلِ الخَرِيف، فالسحابُ رَمَضِيٌّ والمطر رَمَضِيٌّ، وإِنما سمي رَمَضِيّاً لأِنه يدرك سُخونة الشمس وحرّها.
والرَّمَضُ المطر يأْتي قُبُلَ الخريف فيجد الأَرض حارّة محترقة.



combining all together , we find that quran was revealed in a night combining full moon night an autum equinox

we can also notice  that firsts verses of each surate is generally speaking about revelation.
30-2 and 30-3 give us the year of revelation.
history tell us that 617 is the year of apogee of roman defeat against persians. Heraclius then organized and won against persian during next years. It is what Quran predicted in that verses. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Byzantine-Sassanid_War_of_602-628

the amazing fact is that 20 september 617 is a very special night astronomically.
it is an autum equinox day ( an 19 :00 approximativally)

at the same time it was a full moon night
but also, in that night, moon was at his perige. That mean that moon was very big in the sky.

Full moon + perigee is called supermoon
supermoon in an equinox day and it is very rare.

but there is another interesting phenomenon.
the night of the next full moon after that supermoon there was a lunar eclipse (inchaqqa al qamaru ?).

please notice that 37-1 (saff'atou saffan) can be a description of alignment of moon, earth and sun during eclipse or full moon.

other first verses of sourate speaks about stars .
Perhaps something else happened in the sky in that period.

I remember all that the day of equinox, length of day and length of night is same everywhere and is 12h both.

Even at pole north.

thus, with the understanding of this thread, as night of ramadan is near equinoxe, it wil be the same "effort" wherever you are on earth.

i have "no pole" problem for ramadan and fasting in my understanding, whatever fast mean.


19-26 :"So eat and drink and be happy. If you see any human being, then say: 'I have vowed an abstinence (:SAOUM) for the Almighty, :so I will not talk today to any of mankind.'"

i am really sad for people who are suffering now while believing God ordered them to do so.

37-1 Wal Saffatou Saffan (by those who range themselves in ranks).

Well, as we have seen, there is two special dates.

- 20 september 617 (Super moon and equinox)
- 20 October 617 partial lunar eclipse during full moon.

in my understandings, partial lunar eclipse was a proof given by god to muhammad to convince his followers.
it seems however that something else occured that night of "astronomical meeting".

It seems that inner planets of our solar system are aligned saffan.

Really, i would like some help from a professionnal  "astronomist" about what happened in the sky in these two dates.
