How are you today ? Let me see if I can help. To add an avatar, you have to follow the following procedure:
1. Click on Profile :
2. Click on Account Settings: You will find it on the list of menus on the left hand side as shown below (Under MODIFY PROFILE).
3. Personalize Picture (Avatar): This page gives you the option to personalize your picture/avatar. The first option is for "No Avatar". But you want one.
So let us go through your options:
4. You can - Choose Avatar from Gallery: Just click on the list provided and select what you like.
5. You can - Specify Avatar by URL: If you have the link to an image that you might like to use as an avatar, you can provide the link here to make that into your avatar.
6. Upload an avatar: If you have a picture in your computer that you might want to use as an avatar, select this option. Click on the browse button , navigate to the folder where that picture is stored on your PC and select the picture.
7. Change Profile : When you are done, you must save the change you made to your profile by clicking the Change Profile button at the bottom of that same page.
I hope by now you have managed to do what you wanted to do. There are sites that let you download avatars. I will leave you with one example :
