alot of people keep declaring that nikes are haram due to the fact that originally the name means that nike was a grrek idol or goddes and wearing tyhem would mean commiting shirk. Some people might say that it is just depends on intention. Although some of them say that wearing nike is like wearing a shirt that say "I am a christian" or "jesus is lord"  or something which is very convincing. But i realy wanted to jknow what you guys think.

The names of the days of the week are also named after pagan gods. Does this mean that we shouldn't use them?  :hmm

To me, this is a non-issue--it falls outside the realm of the Deen and is going to extremes. No person has any authority to claim that something is halal or haram, anyway.

16:116 And do not say, as to what your tongues falsely describe: "This is lawful, and that is forbidden;" that you seek to invent lies about GOD. Those who invent lies about GOD will not succeed.

It could very well be that claiming that something is haram is a worse transgression than any perceived transgression from wearing Nike brand. I would not want to take such a person as a partner besides the Almighty--listening to their "guidance."

If you feel personally conflicted, don't wear Nike. If you don't feel a conflict with your beliefs, wear it or not as you wish. Don't let stuff like this distract you from the important things.

ALLAH knows best.

Peace.

Everything we wear now days is "haram". We should go around naked. Everything is made through oppression, shady business deals, big profits....

On a serious note. Wear what you like on your body, as long as you wear righteousness spiritually ,you are fine.

GOD bless.

Peace,

Yet God forbade us from calling things forbidden while He has not said so. There are relatively few things forbidden.

God bless you

That would actually be a much better reason for calling something haram: that it has been made through horrible working conditions, instead of a name...

True, it is often hard to find something "clean", but I never understand why people can make such an issue of words and at the same time stay so indifferent about real oppresssion.

Peace,

It is sad that so many persons work under horrible conditions making shoes so that the Western world can put on some super-cheap shoes. If they were not made this way the shoes we wear would be way more expensive than they are. The reason why we have such cheap shoes is due to these tyrannical working conditions they have in Asia.

Salam,
Well, in general this is true of course, though in case of Nike (and other famous brands) I am not even sure if they are cheap or just someone is earning a very big amount with them.

I would not necessarily call shoes in the West cheap. People by Jordan's and things for over 100 bucks. Cheap labour, maybe, but good profit.

Peace TheNabi,

In  that regard I can admit they are "haraam". In more than one way.

God bless you
