QuoteThanks You are definitely right about those schools. Our school assigned sessions for teaching the Quran, even called the Quran session, but what we mostly did during these sessions was discussing superficial issues like trimming your fingernails because 40 devils would sit beneath every long fingernail, the veil, gender segregation, the antichrist, the punishment in the grave...etc. But to be fair, sometimes we recited the Quran and talked about morals and charity.
When I graduated from school, I realized I haven't read the Quran entirely and meticulously. During school years, I only read the Quran hastily in Ramadan so I can catch up with friends who were about to finish reading. (In my country, during Ramadan, people try to finish reading the Quran entirely before the month ends, they would even ask each other,' which chapter have you reached up till now? Some people would show off because they had finished reading it twice! Now, I really hate being asked this question, I think someone should read to understand. The Holy book is not a race )
When I entered college, I was shifted to a very different surrounding and I had the chance to interact with various people. It was during college years that I starting reading the Quran carefully with the intention to understand and implement its teachings. But I was faced with the belief that you can never understand the Quran on your own, you may follow your own whims, you need to read hadith that explain the Quran and then you need to read hadith commentaries to understand hadith and then you have to ask a renowned scholar If you have any doubts. A complicated cycle! Then if you disagree with the scholar's opinion, you are heading to the wrong path, you are blinded
You speak to me from the soul .. I live in a country where the quantitie comes before the quality. The main thing you read as much as possible, whether you understand seems to be not so important .....

I've always been annoyed during Ramadan and the FIRST question from ALL: how many 'guz' you have already read?

Ugh.

Do not be fooled by people who dub yourself of unbelief. I place a hadith in question, I am unskilled and they said that i should turn to the scholars, then if I'm still suspicious, I'm definitely strayed ... :yuck:The fox biting its own tail ...
