if you belonged to a sect before you came to the Qu'ran, did you belong to?

I was...some kind of Sunni...not sure which fiqh I followed, I was more of a "I'll follow whichever teachings I agree with, regardless if my beliefs comprise those from different fiqh"

of course I was very ignorant of the Qu'ran back then.

Listen, and understand! That Terminator is out there! It can't be bargained with. It can't be reasoned with. It doesn't feel pity, or remorse, or fear. And it absolutely will not stop, ever, until you are dead.

We here have different views from salaat, to haj, to qibla to shirk to many fiqh issues. But there is something that binds us all, is we take our deen from the Quran and we recognize its authority over anything else. - BigMo

Salaam,

I was raised in a Sunni environment but I did not really care about it because many of its teachings conflict my humanity and reason. But I did become Sunni-ly religious for a few months but soon discovered the Qur'an. So it's all good :D.
?For peace of mind, we need to resign as general manager of the universe.?

?When you judge another you do not define them, you define yourself.?

?Time may heal physical pain but only love can heal emotional pain.?

?My life has been full of terrible misfortunes, most of which never happened.?

It was the same thing with me, becoming Sunni-ly religious and then discovered the Qu'ran

My first exposure to Islam was the NOI.  I was a member of the NOI for years but I felt it wasn't right.  The NOI is basically a money cult and its members are actually "forbidden" to attend orthodox mosques.  I finally left the NOI and started studying the Qur'an on my own without their influence and it was becoming clear to me.  As I started attending regular mosques, most of which were Sunni, I became Sunni.  But after I would listen to how Sunnis put more emphasis on following the Prophet's traditions and personal habits, that didn't sit too well with me either.  After letting go of Sunni Islam, I became a Qur'an only Muslim.

I was following my desires. After reading the Quran I went to a Sunni mosque because I assumed they followed the Quran alone.

I am a God-alone Christian. Thinking back, I think I always have been. Even as a child I had the belief that Jesus was more a prophet than anything else, I have always questioned the concept of "Son on God", "God incarnate" etc.
