Tjena allihop,
Jag skriver detta inl?gg p? engelska so that all members will
be able to understand.
Jonas, you wrote that it is easy to drift away from religion
when one is no longer part of the "crowd/mainstream". I do
agree with you, and I have felt the same, but then I asked
myself a few questions. Like, WHY do I drift away, becoming
less religiously active? Is it because I?m lazy? Is it because
no-one is pulling me along? Is it maybe because I deep within
don't truly believe in those practices to be that important
and meaningful? Maybe when the crowd is not so big, there are
less people to "show off" (consciously or unconsciously) in
front of? Is that really having a sound faith.. or is it just
more or less fake?
It definitely feels good to belong to a certain group..
whatever size or type. Belonging is a built-in need in us human
beings.. so naturally we are inclined to keep up some sort of a
"home-team syndrome". We want to belong, since it gives us an
identity. We want to be someone.
Personally I feel that the Islam that the quran talks about is
so much more universal than we think. I don't think it's so
much about being with people who eat the same food as you do
and who reads the same book as you do etc. This is of course
nice, natural and fine... but it's not the end of it.
I feel that you can have a great sense of belonging with even a
stranger once you have picked up his/her vibration and it
matches yours. If you are naturally inclined to help others, be
kind, honest etc etc etc.. then that's the real Ummah. The
Ummah of the people who do good, as opposed to those who do
evil. Then, of course, we must be very very careful not to go
around judging others as good or bad. We are not capable of
that and not supposed to.
I'm also a Swede, and I've been living in Pakistan for a few
years now (and I didn't come here for religious reasons!). I
feel there are no more muslims(whatever that is) here than
anywhere else. It's just that the society shapes people in
different ways. Different societies have different pros and
cons. Some can be viewed as more decent than others, but it
depends on who you are asking, and there are so many sides to a
society. However, I believe that, basically, people are just
people. I do not connect better to people from any one religion
more than any other religion... it simply depends on the
character and vibration of that person. Some big-bearded
mullahs and qaris are nice and fine people, others are dirty
bastards. The problem arises when people don?t dare to question
or challenge authoritative figures, whether they do it openly or
just in their minds. A tied and chained mind is such a sad
thing... such a waste...
Anyhow...
