Salam,

Does anyone have any opinions as to whether using prayer beads to recite, Bismillah, Allak Akbar, Ahamdellalah, or any other name for god, is conjecture, as it was a sunni practice for obtaining extra points for prayer to god? I like to use them to recite his name in remeberance, but not for extra prayers, as I do not believe in getting extra points, but believe that anyone can pray as many times as they please beyond the 5 salaat prayers.

I guess no one has any opinons about this either huh?

I don't think there is anything wrong with it.. it's just a form of dhikr - remembrance :)

I used to make masabah - prayer beads :)

Take care

ambiguity is there for a reason, why do you think?
We're all different, so how can we all be equal?

Salam Sarah,

Thanks for your input. I appreciate it.  :)

I like my prayer beads, and I like thinking of god, and reciting his names.

Peace Honor,

I don't think there's anything wrong with using any tool, including prayer beads, to remember The God.
If you feel that you can do better with the beads, then I'd say go for it. ;D

But of course, if you somehow forgot where you had put your beads, you don't find it troublesome to remember The God by any other means. :)

there shouldn't be any issue in using beads, and we agree with adley when he implied, provided you don't depend on it to remember (zikr) Allah.

there would, methink, be a big problem when one uses the beads to 'calculate' the quantum of remembrance (say 33, 333, 7,000, 70,000, etc.) we are of the understanding that there shouldn't be any limit in remembering Allah, for His grace and mercy upon us has been limitless or boundless. we should perhaps learn from the malaikat, and the animals - always sing and praise His glory, and thank Him for all the grace and mercy that He has betowed upon us.
