Y do we look for prophecies? (prediction of future)
How it is going to effect our lives? is it going to be our present or future effected?
Do anyone knows of any prophecy that has come true?
How does it effect the believers of the profecy, its disbeliever and those who does not care.? please can anyone elaborate?
Does islam also encourages mystries and illusions?

Peace daoraan,

Welcome to the forum. :)

I used to be interested in prophecies and predictions, be it from traditional hadith or nostradamus, but that was a long time ago. I'm not bothered (or affected) at all by them anymore,  looking for signs of the end of the world, or anything like that. ;D
If they turn away, then Say: "God is enough for me, there is no god but He, in Him I put my trust and He is the Lord of the great throne." [9:129]

Peace be upon you daoraan, all

Here is a prophecy for you: If you jump from the window of a 10th floor building without any equipement, you will crash on the ground, have many broken bones... and most surely you would be dead.

You will tell me that it is not a prophecy in the "religious" sense, but this is how "prophecies" do work: the "prophets" do know the law of causality ("at-tawrat" as my understanding of the scripture goes), they link effects with their causes, thus they can "predict" the future. No magic in there, just knowledge and wisdom.

Human curiousity. A lot of us worry about the future/ Fantasize about the future etc...

QuoteDoes islam also encourages mystries and illusions?

Illusions, definitely not. I don't know what you mean by 'encouraging mysteries' though.

The purpose of prophesies has always been the proof of the one speaking the future as being a messenger from God.

In my life that is exactly what the Angel who visited me did, was to predict the future events in my life and in the nations life and those messages came true, it was to prove to me that I had a gurdian angel, and that God was real.

May God lead your heart to peace.

doesnt take a genius fortune teller to predict such events. my dog can predict better.

I dont really have a dog but I bet that Iwill find a smart predicting puppy. In fact, I am going to herde a puppy orphanage just to have things revealed.

fun stuff.
