well jankren,  i totally undersrand ur care regarding conversion in the the middle east, cos here day and night u hear and read nothing but the traditional islam and BUKHARI tales  ... people here are followers to what the men of religion tell them, and if any one try to contradicts the inherited beliefs and what is written in the tradiontional books , even by using verses from the quran, they will call him ignorant and disbieliver... his life mb put to risk also  :voodoo .. also pll seems to be afarid of accepting or even discussing new ideas  . i hope things changes to the best

Never loose hope in God's help; Here is God promise:

وَعَدَ ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ مِنكُمۡ وَعَمِلُواْ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ لَيَسۡتَخۡلِفَنَّهُمۡ فِى ٱلۡأَرۡضِ ڪَمَا ٱسۡتَخۡلَفَ ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبۡلِهِمۡ وَلَيُمَكِّنَنَّ لَهُمۡ دِينَہُمُ ٱلَّذِى ٱرۡتَضَىٰ لَهُمۡ وَلَيُبَدِّلَنَّہُم مِّنۢ بَعۡدِ خَوۡفِهِمۡ أَمۡنً۬ا‌ۚ يَعۡبُدُونَنِى لَا يُشۡرِكُونَ بِى شَيۡـًٔ۬ا‌ۚ وَمَن ڪَفَرَ بَعۡدَ ذَٲلِكَ فَأُوْلَـٰٓٮِٕكَ هُمُ ٱلۡفَـٰسِقُونَ (٥٥)
Allah has promised, to those among you who believe and work righteous deeds, that He will of a surety, grant them in the land, inheritance, as He granted it to those before them; that He will establish in authority their religion― the one which He has chosen for them; and that He will change, after the fear in which they (lived), to one of security and peace: `They will worship Me (Obey me alone) and not associate with Me (associate lies).' If any do reject faith after this, they are rebellious and wicked. (24-55)

Welcome to the Forum; as you will note, there are many different opinion in uderstading the Quran in this forum; thus, use your judegement when choosing between opinions.
