Discuss Latest World News / Malaysia post Mahatir
September 12, 2003, 08:21:17 AM
Lets face it, pretty soon Mahatir's reign as Malaysian PM will be over. He has attempted to transform a small time economic light weight into a fully developed country with vision 2020. He has transformed KL, built the futuristic Putrajaya/Cybejaya multimedia super corridor and most importantly seen his country through devious western attempts to ruin his country in an almost miraculous way.

What is the future for Malaysia?

I cannot tell the future but the only people from within who can ruin Malaysia are, IMO, the sunnis with their calls for a 'khilafah'.

Also the west will almost certainly attempt to get it's devilish claws in by attempting to make Malaysians superficial and selfish and thus ruin the collective hopes of a genuinly multi cultural and multi religious society. I just hope they don't fall for it.

What do people think about Mahatir. What about the Anwar Ibrahim incident? This, IMO seems to be the only black mark to his name.

Ironically though Mahatir is a sunni, but not seemingly an ardent one.

Just out of interest and forgive me if I am wrong (I have only looked at this article very briefly and will return to it in more detail) , why does this article not deal with 17:111 which IMO might tell us what to say in salat is ignored in this article?

Aidid Safar also ignored this in his article.

110. Say: "Call upon Allah, or call upon Rahman: by whatever name ye call upon Him, (it is well): for to Him belong the Most Beautiful Names. Neither speak thy Prayer aloud, nor speak it in a low tone, but seek a middle course between."

111. Say: "Praise be to Allah, who begets no son, and has no partner in (His) dominion: Nor (needs) He any to protect Him from humiliation: yea, magnify Him for His greatness and glory!"

Also, with regards to the oath of allegiance- what happens if you do not believe in God/believe in gods?

<<?I swear before God an allegiance to the constitution and laws of the Islamic nation, to uphold at all times in private and public. I swear not to steal, nor to lie, nor to commit acts of lewdness. I will obey the law and attempt to live my life according to the moral and ethical values of the nation, to contribute my intellect and efforts to the betterment of life for all citizens. I have placed God as a witness over this oath of mine, may He have mercy on my soul and guide my heart and mind to always do right?.

<<  ?And those females who commit lewdness together from among your women, then bring four witnesses over them from amongst you; if they bear witness, then you shall restrict them in the homes until death takes them, or God makes for them a way out. And those males who commit it together from amongst you, then you shall annoy them. If they repent and amend, then leave them alone. God is Redeemer, Merciful.? (4:15-16)

Firstly I would have to question if these verses actually refer to homosexuality (I have always wondered what they refer to). Secondly if they do (and even if they don't) why the difference in punishment between men and women?

I used to think that maybe this verse was referring to prostitution. This perhaps could explain the difference.

It is fear of failure which is holding that ummah behind. It is the fear of finding out that you have been a failure. In criticising their religion, you are criticising their actions and most importantly their choices.

IMO it is their lack of desire to be sincere that is the problem. Sunnism is a game with 'magical things' you can do to score points [eg the intercession thing (!?)] . Islam is from the heart, you must be genuine. I don't think they want to be.

QuoteIt would lead to sexual pervesity and other forms of immorality. But of course women are not sexual objects according to 'Islam'.

Hehe    Not in the fake Islam. The way I see it the Muslim men must be some horney guys. But your statement brings to me a new perspective.

Joe

The tragedy with these Sunnis is that basically they have all these laws that blame women for things that are the men's own fault. They feel that these laws make them more moral etc. but they have no idea that Sunni males have a reputation, certainly in the UK, for infidelity amongst those 'in the know'. Their owns laws do nothing for this because of the culture of blame on the woman (she was wearing a mini skirt, I couldn't help ripping of my clothes - it was her fault) or the polygamy argument (in 'Islam' I would be allowed more than one wife anyway).

But certainly the argument about sexual objectification with hijab, niqaab etc is a true and strong one. In fact the 'scholars' themselves say that the relevent parts of the women are sexual, yet they don't see the stupidity of their own arguments!

Besides, tell me what harm or sin would befall on the so-called sister, by taking off her head gear for few minutes and simply obeying one of the many mandatory laws of where she resides in, .

It would lead to sexual pervesity and other forms of immorality. But of course women are not sexual objects according to 'Islam'.
