Health & Fitness / Re: Yoga for weight loss
« on: July 02, 2010, 04:24:23 PM »
great posts in this thread, thanks!

from what i learned and worked for me very well:

- be positive and patient, gradually adjust "eat but do not waste". Thank God for what you already have/are.

- no sugar, no sweets, no snacks, no chips, no candy etc - just nutritious meals and enjoy some fruits too - no drinks but water.

- dont cut on breakfast - so you can have the energy throughout the day and enough to jog in the evenings, moderate lunch, less dinner - focus on limiting to half the normal of rice/bread and no fill-ups. I really love heavy breakfast with milk and honey too - I personally find honey (a natural "sugar based" healing to mankind, very nutritious and very good for sore-throat or tooth-ache or mouth swellings too) with milk so pleasing that i dont need anymore sugar-based tea or coffee. some light teas are good without sugar. no sugar - very important!

- jogging 30+ minutes everyday possible - slow pace enough that you can keep on going without stopping and you can talk at that speed - once regular enough you'll be addicted to it and health just gets gradually better, much relief for mind too, especially thanking praising God, glorifying God as watching the beauty of trees, water, sky etc in parts.

JAH BLESSINGS!

See his comment with hugoramus which is me btw. :D

I couldn't agree more.

Thanks! Amazing, very interesting. I was wondering long ago about such people like this - seeking God alone - coming from different backgrounds. Read about kariate long ago - it's essentially the same as Quran Alone. Ponder deeper and we see God Alone.

Introduce Yourself / Re: I'm a new, self-professed "Believer"

 :welcome: LiberalBelief!

Amazing story! I've been trying to talk to God many many times too - although I don't "hear" his reply (yet), but I "understand" His communication through the happiness, wisdom and understandings of things.

But I probably won't be a serious practicing Muslim anyway. I will do whatever is possible, avoid whatever is possible. But I will pray. I will praise God. And I will do it MY way. God is everywhere. I don't think it's right that I have to turn to some direction to talk to God. I will pray to Him in the language I understand (certainly not Arabic) because God is certainly not language-challenged. I will pray in whatever gesture I want. Nothing rituals. And I will still live by any good teachings of any other religion, any person (like the Prayer of St. Francis or even that of Buddha). I probably won't go on the pilgrimage. God is HERE, why go elsewhere?

In the end, I may not turn out to be a Muslim, but rather a believer of goodness.

A believer who believes in GOD ALONE.

Very wise statement.

Yes, God is not limited by his laws of time and "dimension"/space - so He's everywhere.

I'm sure you'll see many many interpretations of many many issues here from many "truth seekers" and yourself - about Salaat, Zakat, pilgrimage, rituals, "where was muhammad", etc.

Consider what solves the equation - going well with His natural laws and brings wisdom.

Don't worry about the common understanding of "practicing" is rather just rituals and culture - instead of practicing the core of Giving Thanks and Praise to God alone and do Good through maintain the covenant and do good to the society (aqemus-salat wa atuz-zakat).

The real "practice" is maintaining/holding your various Salat/Bond with God of being a good person - that is, follow His commands and glorifying GOD ALONE and do not transgress - for example: always speak the truth, be fair in trade and judgement, be patient, be sincere, do not speak gossip, use good words/language, avoid intoxicants, be faithful in wedlock, do not do adultery, help the poor/needy/wayfarer, do good for your society, etc.

This is related to the "Salat" issue you can see throughout the forum, you can read http://www.free-minds.org/salat_anon and see the Salat = Bond/Covenant/Contract interpretation. (Let's not discuss that here and get this thread off-topic)

Haha, you're all welcome, my country is famous about its tourism!

It's hard to find God alone people here. On the bright side, it's positive to observe that many people I've met to are listening about God alone + focus on doing good/ethical deeds.

Pilgrimage (Hajj) / Re: Qiblah and Qabbalah

Very interesting, makes amazing sense for that verse. What about 10:87?

(I used to understand “qibla” meaning “gathering/assembly point/place”. Try it with 10:87 also...

Peace

Just like to share a little theory...

In my understanding, “qibla” or “Focal Point” means “gathering point/place”. Try it with 10:87 also...

Health & Fitness / Re: Bamboo Clothes. Why is that good?
« on: May 03, 2009, 04:24:29 PM »
Very nice topic.

I have lots of bamboo in my house too, but how to spin it into fabric? any HOWTOs?

The Bamboo is really a blessing, just to list some more uses:
- it grows so fast.
- its leaves sound so nice and relaxing to mankind when it touches the wind.
- its wood is used in so many ways: make house walls in sout-east asia.
- used to store food and water (a tradional thai way to "package" lunch for travelling)
- its small "shoots" are used for food in sout-east asia. At work, many times I eat the north-east Thai bamboo-shoot salad (100% vegetarian dish) with "sticky rice". Sticky rice also grows well and I heard that it grows on hills too - during my visit to the hills of Laos - they say they can't (or it's hard) to grow normal rice on hills - but they can grow sticky rice.

Peace.
