It was quite difficult to fast in the North of England and Scotland last year.  There was almost no time to sleep and let your last meal of the day get digested before it was time to get up and eat and start the fast again.

Peace.

Dawn it is getting better still......

If it happens that it is too difficult or not feasible, then you may substitute feeding the poor instead. God is Merciful.

Hi Q,

http://corpus.quran.com/wordbyword.jsp?chapter=2&verse=184

I think it is the sick and those on a journey! who are exempted according to word for word translation.

Then everything that's  haram is actually permitted?

Awesome! Time to have some fun

well you could be right, but consider;

Haraam -All important /Sacred, can be forbidding or enjoining but important.

Like the example I gave before: Do not kill your children (Order forbidding) or Be nice to parents (Order enjoining) and all in the same ayah!

Harram ? Forbidden. 1.Taking of life accept through law.

This word is slightly different as you see.

Thanks for the feedback.

Haram al masjid's meaning is so obviously corrupted that it is foolish to not even think of that.

Since when does haram mean sacred?

Let go of all rituals, they're not islamic

May be you are right,but....

6.151 Sahih International: Say, "Come, I will recite what your Lord has made sacred to you. [He commands] that you not associate anything with Him, and to parents, good treatment, and do not kill your children out of poverty; We will provide for you and them. And do not approach immoralities - what is apparent of them and what is concealed. And do not kill the soul which Allah has forbidden [to be killed] except by [legal] right. This has He instructed you that you may use reason."

If we put forbidden in the above ayah instead of sacred

Allah has made it haram to be good to parents?!
or using sacred
Allah has made it sacred to be good to parents.

which makes sense?

isn't it similer for the rest of the commands.

If we say it is sacred to be good to parents or it is sacred to not take life unlawfully it all makes sense and half.

I took Sacred from the dictionery-no idea if it is right though.

show me an ayah where it can't make sense as sacred please Bro.

Salaams,

If the new qibla is the straight way (from 2.142) and the masjid al haram (from 2.149) then, is it almasjid alharam=the straight way?

The new Qibla is the straight way.

2:142 The fools among the people will say: "What hath turned them from the QIBLA to which they were used?" Say: To Allah belongs what is brought forward and what is done away with: He guideth whom He will to the Way that is straight.

English (Yusuf Ali):
2:149 From whencesoever Thou startest forth, turn Thy face in the direction of the sacred masjid/submission ; that is indeed the truth from the Lord. And Allah is not unmindful of what ye do.

what is the straight way.

6.152 Sahih International: And do not approach the orphan's property except in a way that is best until he reaches maturity. And give full measure and weight in justice. We do not charge any soul except [with that within] its capacity. And when you testify, be just, even if [it concerns] a near relative. And the covenant of Allah fulfill. This has He instructed you that you may remember.

siratee mustaqeeman ? the above is the straight way.(from 6.153)

6.153 Sahih International: And, [moreover], this is My path, which is straight, so follow it; and do not follow [other] ways, for you will be separated from His way. This has He instructed you that you may become righteous.

6.154 Sahih International: Then We gave Moses the Scripture, making complete [Our favor] upon the one who did good and as a detailed explanation of all things and as guidance and mercy that perhaps in [the matter of] the meeting with their Lord they would believe.

Will a person be penalised more if;

He bows and shows he recognises authority and thus will obey the command but doesn't?

then a normal individual.

I believe its Psychosis, she needs treatment-usualy its about six months and most people get back to reality..........

Many people have a mild form of it - due to a wrong world view rather then the actual reality.

Pilgrimage (Hajj) / Re: Hajj = Harvest Festival?
April 22, 2012, 06:01:56 AM
How strange but absolutely makes sense, your post. He never stopped them from doing their thing  but always preached them the right way.

There is even a hadith (if it is right);
The prophet tells his wife Khadija,"if your people where not so deeply entranched in their ways , i would have made one door to enter and one to leave the kaaba (i suppose to show them that it is an empty shell and nothing more).

But his biggest mistake was not stopping them , i think , as look what they did after him taking over the control with Yazid and bringing about the down fall of the prophets way and bringing religion of the meccans into main stream taking over all religions!

Salaams Br,

(17:26) And give the relative his due, and the poor, and the wayfarer; and do not waste excessively.
(17:27) Those who waste excessively are brothers to the devils, and the devil was to his Lord a rejecter.
(17:28) And if you turn away from them to seek a mercy from your Lord which you desire, then say to them a gentle saying.
(17:29)  And do not make your hand stingy by holding it to your neck, nor shall you lay it fully open so you become in despair and regret.

Only two things a peson can do with wealth;
1. Give it away - which is charity.
2. Use it ;
              a. wisely
              b. In a way that is not right.

bathir;

Dissipating or squandering wealth in a way that is not right.

The devil doesn't give charity.

So must be 2.b.

Thanks! What category?

So you've never seen any muslims on the side walk without a plate?? Is it only christians?

He is considered unclean(not paak) that is why he is sitting on the footpath- he isn't allowed to eat in a plate as the plate will become unclean too, sorry that is what i learnt when i was young and lived in Pakistan, and now feel disgust at such a teaching.

The point was not to show that christians are not discriminated against... the point was to show that there are christian "forces" from abroad in the country with the purpose to create further divide! If the christians were so good as you seem to mean, when you gave the example of their schools, why are they then coming to spread hatred among the citizens? Would that help the situation you think?

I'm talking about Lahore and Rawalpindi...

What's you point? Does a barking mullah cancel out a malicious padre? What do you want to show? Of course you will find plenty malicious mullahs.... so? what has that to do with the padres???

how are they creating trouble? surely not if they are merely teaching their bible!

Quote
yes, it is something else.

It cannot be to learn open-mindedness at least... and before you reply I will say that this goes for madrassas aswell. And I'm sure it isn't is for the benefit either. What benefit would that be?

For those who can afford convent schools, there are also other schools available where you can get equally good education.

I think convenent schools may be the only one available,as the demand for such educationally inspiring schools is high.

Quote

My point is not that these schools suck educationally, which I'm sure they don't... but they are definitely against islam in spirit and practice. This information I get from people who have been put through these schools... I myself has not grow up in that country.
Yes some things are against Islam, but we must teach some things at home to our kids too- are we lazy at it or what?then we cry our kids havn't the manners of our deen!

And there is for sure a culture stemming from the colonial days when the brits where the masters. They are still the masters today if you look closely. Fair-and-lovely creams are rampant... everything white, and especially british (or nowadays also american) is very highly regarded... at least among a bit educated people.

Please notice the whole point of my original post. It was not to say that christians are not discriminated against. The point was to highlight the christian foreign hand with a destructive objective, i.e. spreading hatred. It's a fact, regardless of other facts.

Where are the facts?
Quote
"Bring us to these good people"??? Bringing us? Good people??
The christian run schools do NOT let you practice other religions! There are however schools with american and british systems where students of different religions study, and are allowed to follow their religion.... but these generally have higher fee structure and are not available to the masses.

you said it "we sometimes can't afford them", so we go for the next best thing.

peace!
