Please, if you can, why was he so great? Or is it that, that is how he has been depicted to us!

The one who built the Kaaba? did he?
the one who broke the idols? surely we can all do that now aswell!

or is there something else .

Thanks All.

This article discusses the numerous adverse effects of Islamic fasting (Sawm) that have been observed using scientific studies and news sources.

Medical fasting can have health benefits. However, Medical fasting differs from Islamic fasting, and contrary to popular Muslim beliefs, Islamic fasting, unlike Medical fasting, has numerous adverse effects. As we will explain here, Islamic fasting has significant harmful effects on health, national economy and productivity, crime rate, public safety and social behavior. Health effects include heat stress, dehydration, migraines and, for lactating women, the nutritional make-up of their milk, amongst others.

In a recent study done on the Arab world, diseases linked to cholesterol and diabetes increased by 27.65% because of overeating.[3] Other health effects include:

I doubt very much if this is wrong, but my apologies if it is.

:peace:

For some reason when a person considers himself or herself a puritan/saved/superior he will consider others inferior and will not give them the retro-respect they deserve. Some Christians are in this category and Jews and Muslims and Hindus ??..but because the previous ayah?s are talking about the Christians the following are as well.

2:140

Or do ye say that Abraham, Isma'il Isaac, Jacob and the Tribes were saved/repented  Nazarenes? Say: Do ye know better than Allah? Ah! who is more unjust than those who conceal the testimony they have from Allah? but Allah is not unmindful of what ye do!

5:82;

Strongest among men in enmity to the believers wilt thou find those who are the Saved/Repented Nazarenes and those who do shirk; and surely you will find the nearest OF THEM in affection to those who believe, are those who (only) say, "We are Nazarenes" that because among THEM are men devoted to learning and men who have renounced the world, and they are not arrogant.

The problem in the above two ayah?s is the wrong use of the "aw" between hudan and nasara.

Muhammad Asad has used it the correct way.

In the following ayah?s (I haven?t checked them all though.

Chapter 4 - 4:3; 4:24; 4:25; 4:36;
Chapter 16 - 16:71;
Chapter 23 - 23:6;
Chapter 24 - 24:31; 24:33; 24:58;
Chapter 30 - 30:28;
Chapter 33 - 33:50; 33:52; 33:55;
Chapter 70 - 70:30;

Salaams,

If the new qibla is the straight way (from 2.142) and the masjid al haram (from 2.149) then, is it almasjid alharam=the straight way?

The new Qibla is the straight way.

2:142 The fools among the people will say: "What hath turned them from the QIBLA to which they were used?" Say: To Allah belongs what is brought forward and what is done away with: He guideth whom He will to the Way that is straight.

English (Yusuf Ali):
2:149 From whencesoever Thou startest forth, turn Thy face in the direction of the sacred masjid/submission ; that is indeed the truth from the Lord. And Allah is not unmindful of what ye do.

what is the straight way.

6.151 Sahih International: Say, "Come, I will recite what your Lord has made sacred to you. [He commands] that you not associate anything with Him, and to parents, good treatment, and do not kill your children out of poverty; We will provide for you and them. And do not approach immoralities - what is apparent of them and what is concealed. And do not kill the soul which Allah has forbidden [to be killed] except by [legal] right. This has He instructed you that you may use reason."

6.152 Sahih International: And do not approach the orphan's property except in a way that is best until he reaches maturity. And give full measure and weight in justice. We do not charge any soul except [with that within] its capacity. And when you testify, be just, even if [it concerns] a near relative. And the covenant of Allah fulfill. This has He instructed you that you may remember.

siratee mustaqeeman ? the above is the straight way.(from 6.153)

6.153 Sahih International: And, [moreover], this is My path, which is straight, so follow it; and do not follow [other] ways, for you will be separated from His way. This has He instructed you that you may become righteous.

6.154 Sahih International: Then We gave Moses the Scripture, making complete [Our favor] upon the one who did good and as a detailed explanation of all things and as guidance and mercy that perhaps in [the matter of] the meeting with their Lord they would believe.

Will a person be penalised more if;

He bows and shows he recognises authority and thus will obey the command but doesn't?

then a normal individual.
