I am no expert, but its impossible for a pm or something of that nature to TRIGGER your camera going of. In order for your computer to act on its own, something must be downloaded (a keylogger for example). It can't just happen 'over the air', as it were. Maybe you accidently pressed a button or a shortcut or some such while typing your reply or whilst hunting for your obscure sources
