October 16, 2015, 09:31:52 AMBible archaeologist claims to have discovered Sodom
Tall el-Hammam (Jordan) - After ten years excavation in Tall el-Hammam Jordan to American Bible archaeologists show convinced to have an unusually massive and large Bronze Age city found the biblical Sodom. The city-state had found the southern Jordan Valley dominates, but then was - was suddenly abandoned for about 700 years old - from a hitherto mysterious reason. As an explanation archaeologist claims to have found evidence of even a huge explosion of an object in the sky above the city.

Questions/Comments on the Quran / Re: Understanding the story of Lot and homosexuality

To the OP
The science you talk about is deeply flawed and funded by those that thrive on lies and deception.
Quran condemns this kind of behaviour. The verses are clear.

Questions/Comments on the Quran / Re: How Do Hadith-rejecters Interpret 8:12

Remember your Lord inspired the Angels (with the message): "I am with you: give firmness to the Believers: I will instill terror into the hearts of the Unbelievers: smite ye above their necks and smite all their finger-tips off them." (Surah 8:12)
According to the understanding of orthodox Hadith-believing Sunni Muslims, this was a true historical event from the Battle of Badr.
According to Hadith history, in the aftermath of the Battle of Badr, the Muslims inspected the dead bodies of the disbelieving warriors and noticed that some of the bodies had burns on their necks, fingertips and toes. Since we Sunni Muslims believe that an army of Angels led by their general Gibraeel (Alaihe salaam) literally participated in the Battle of Badr, therefore this verse was literally fulfilled because those mysterious burn marks were the injuries inflicted by the Angels.
However, since Hadith-rejecters reject the Hadith and the history related by Hadith, so how do they interpret this verse from the Quran. I would be very interested to know.
This is a classic example of how hadiths have been fabricated which allegedly 'explain' a particular verse of the Quran after the fact.
A word of advice -- if you are to predicate your argument on a 'Sunni' Hadith, you need to provide an exact reference and post it for all to see. Without a reference your argument is as weak as the hadith itself, if it exists that is ...

this is the problem you Quranist face, what Allah has promised to protect is the secured tablet, often mentioned in the Quran not the current compilation we have today.
And your point is?

Imam Husayn (as) was not alone in Karbala, his whole family was mercilessly slaughtered! His head was severed, his ribs were crushed!
Even if this were to be true, what does this have to do with the main message of the Quran which is to remain on the straight path and not follow the misguided?

It's not just a major difference. Religion and the Deen (in arabic) of Allah (in arabic) are two fundamentally different things. They are not different versions or styles of faith. The are two totally different approaches to life, reason and Allah. They are two totally different ways of using your mind, leading to opposite directions. The more deep you get into elaborate religion, the further away from real life and the natural system of Allah you get. Religion encourages blind faith in historic and fantastic fairy tales, with no regard for logic, reason and sense.
You are quite right. They are polar opposites. One of the major reasons of this belief in fantastic fairy tales and giving servants of Allah superhuman status stems from a poor understanding of the role of Iblis and the art of deception.
As far as ritual prayer is concerned, everything aside I find it hard to believe Quran teaches us to perform certain physical actions while facing towards a cubical structure containing a black stone. It just does not appeal to reason.

I see hesitation in your "respect". I wish to emphasize the love for the Holy Messenger (sawa) and His Family is the root and foundation of this religion.
Perhaps you are less acquainted with historical events. The bloodshed in Karbala was the direct result of the so-called piety and righteousness in putting the Quran ahead of The Messenger and His Ahlul Bayt who were the friends of Allah. According to the Uthmanis (Proto-Sunnis) that everyone must abide by the Quran that the Ulil 'Amr must be obeyed as mentioned in the Quran therefore anyone opposing this can be murdered.
That day, the blessed head of Imam Al-Husayn (as) was severed, the women of the Family of the Prophet (sawa) were humiliated, his children and cousins were all murdered except few that survived to tell the tale. Syeda Zainab (as) lamented O Prophet (sawa), see what your community has done to us, they brought us in shackles!
When the head of Imam Al-Husayn (as) was severed they chanted Allahu Akbar! Then more bloodshed came..
You believe in all of this because this is what you have been taught by the professional shia priests since childhood. They are no different from the professional sunni priests. You need to objectively study the religion you have inherited from your parents instead of following it blindly.
The major difference between those who believe in ONLY the Quran and the shias and sunni crowd is that they consider God to be their teacher. They study the Deen and form their own understanding from the Quran only perspective.
Your belief system is hypocritical and makes no sense. You lament the death of Husayn and shed blood every year during Muharram to remember that event. However, the same humiliation was suffered by Isa when he was allegedly put on the cross by the jews/romans. I have never seen him mentioned in the emotionally charged sermons the shia priests give during the month of Muharram. Was prophet Isa any less than Husayn?
