I think the problem with this guy is he, like most of the other folks, who follow the Islam 'religion', is he cant let go of the hadith. And that is a serious problem!

General Issues / Questions / Secularism or Islam?
May 05, 2007, 02:06:47 PM
Peace upon all?It has been a long time.
With recent heat in Turkey, one begins to wonder whether Islam should be separated from the state. The problem ignites when people presume Islam as a religion. Or one of the religions! In fact Islam is not a religion. From the Quran it?s obvious that secularism is recommended, as "there is not compulsion in the deen"! Hence, we wonder sometimes "how then what is in the Quran can be applied if there is no compulsion in the deen? The answer to this is the Truth stands clear from Error. What is recommended from our Creator is to uphold the truth. The truth we rationally-scientifically evaluate. It can be from ancient civilisation, the Quran or any other medium. I do not see what the problem is with the west and the people who follow the Islamic Religions, which is not Islam! Or what?s happening is Turkey is more sinister? Please correct me if I am wrong.
Thanks

Discuss Latest World News / Carbon Trading???

Salam!
I do get very confused why some people especially in the UK suddenly rallying to save the enviornment? Is there really something wrong or is there something more sinister? I am suggesting this because even if enviornemt (nature) is changing around us it could be a normal mechanism the earth go through, for example Greenland was green not white when the Chinese discovered the Americas and the rest of the world. When C. Columbus was pissing in his nappies.
Comments suggestions please.

Peace bro "bmbmm",
JK- Common decent with modifications is what evolution is all about bro. What are you saying?
JK- Yes and hence we share a common ancestor. That is evolution. What do you think evoltuion in the biological sense means? GOD Bless!
Hi Bro,
If this is evolution based on a common ancestor then there is no evolution as there is no scientific evidence that we all arrived from one ancestor.

Hi, I'm new to this forum. This is an interesting discussion and a topic I am greatly interested in.
In light of the degeneracy of the genetic code, similarities in gene sequences can only be rationally explained by common descent. DNA paternity testing simply wouldn't work otherwise.
This is a false analogy. A 486 or pentium doesn't reproduce, they don't have a basis of inheritance.
Whats wrong with the examples listed here - http://www.talkorigins.org/indexcc/CB/CB101.html
You're conflating two different things here anyway. The validity of Common descent doesn't depend on the validity of the proposed mechanisms of evolutionary change. Gould explained it well:
"Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."
Salaam
Common decent by no means suggest or support evolution. If you want to proof evolution you just need one molecular-biological evidence. I challenge anyone to give one.
Psudogenes are found in apes and man and so are other genes that show 90-100% sequence homologies between the two species.

Peace bros,
What should we do with our previous debates where i vehemently denied the theory of evolution. Should we 1) delete them all 2) just let them as they are 3) make an entire article in which we compile all the debates so that we have them all under one topic, 4) extract the keypoints from the debates to show the progression and evolution of my thoughts, 5) bith 3 and 4? GOD Bless!
I will go with 3&4

Peace,
Microevolution are small changes like those in a dogs, wolves and koyote, the various races in humans, etc. GOD Bless!
Hi Jonny,
As for the microevolution to occure it has to pass on to the next generation and so on. It is can't and I am sure it can't then its a hoax.
Anyway, I am glad that you are digging deep into the matter to find the truth.
Peace

Peace bro "bmbmm",
Please read these articles completely, meaning all things related as well:
http://www.talkorigins.org/faqs/comdesc/section4.html (Molecular bilogical evidence for evolution)
http://www.talkorigins.org/faqs/comdesc/ (29+ evidences for macro evolution)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Human_evolutionary_genetics
http://www.talkorigins.org/faqs/molgen/ (lengthy and VERY detailed)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chimpanzee_Genome_Project
Its exciting to know that certain genetic traits in humans have been shutoff and are there merely as remnants to show common ancestry btw apes and humans and even creatures before tht(PSEUDOGENES). Its all one package gradually unfolding, beginning fom the sea.
http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2006/03/0308_060308_evolution.html
http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2006/05/humans-chimps.html
http://www.livescience.com/humanbiology/051214_brain_evo.html
The bees also evolved from other ancestors which were different on the macro level.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bees#Evolution
Please also read my other articles and links posted on evolution like that of the whale. The whale contains certain vestigial organs which are clearly the remnant of land dwelling mammals. There is no use for these for the whale and they show clearly a pattern of evolutionary ancestry from land dwelling mammals. GOD Bless!
Hi Jonny thanks for the articles.
These do not show any scientific evidence, but just suggest that there are similarities. Homologies does not reflection or show support to evolution. There are similarities becaus there is one creator. A 486 has similarity with a pentium but it does not mean they evolved. The only way to show/demonstrate the possibility of evolution is to, as I demended in my previous responses, show in the lab, for the sake of time a point mutation a SNP, that can have a positive impact in an organism, and which can be passed to the next generation.
Peace

General Issues / Questions / Re: Can "pseudogenes" be reactivated through "self-suggestion" or "prayer"?

Hi Jonny,
I think it is possible. Take forexample placebo, in the recent issue of journal of neurochemistry it was discovered that there is a biochemical component of placebo effect. Test trial of a drug was shown to reduce pain and so as placebo, but interestingly compound that antagonise the receptor responsible for interacting with the drug also shown no response to pain releave by placebo. This she suggests that the body produce a compound/protein that releave pain when exposed to a placebo, provided there is a mind set/intention that the placebo will work.
Overall, there is not just environmental impact on our genes but also the mind/thought.
Peace
