Discuss Latest World News / Trouble in Turkey!
« on: June 17, 2013, 04:18:47 PM »

It's strange that one by one the people are fighting/rising up against oppression/dictators in Muslim countries. Is there a pattern to all this? Recently Turkey has joined this category. What do people make of Prime minister Erdogan? A dictator or the next caliphate? Is he genuine or has he been placed there by USA for a particular motive? Is there a big plan for the area that the Muslims have been blinded to?
It?s very strange, something is going on. The unprecedented control of the media, army, courts and police by the government does not happen over night! There is a plan!
Would be nice to hear some views.

What is the nature of God? / A review of verses 2:62 and 3:85

A review of verses 2:62 and 3:85

The explanation below is an attempt to answer a question raised regarding any apparent contradiction between the above two verses.

Note: Before attempting an explanation of any verse of the Qur?an there are certain rules one must adhere to:

Firstly, the Qur?an must not be viewed as a compilation of individual injunctions and exhortations but as one integral whole: that is, as an exposition of an ethical doctrine in which every verse and sentence has an intimate bearing on other verses and sentences, all of them clarifying and amplifying one another. Consequently, its real meaning can be grasped only if we correlate every one of the statements with what has been stated elsewhere in its pages, and try to explain its ideas by means of frequent cross references, always subordinating the particular to the general and the incidental to the intrinsic. Whenever this rule is faithfully followed, we realise that the Qu?ran is ? in the words of Muhammad Abduh ? ?its own best commentry?1. Keeping this in mind one can then attempt the explanation of the  two verses, to see if there is any apparent contradiction between them.

Sunni/Shia Religion / Shia or Sunni Muslims? Dr Zakir Naik
« on: October 20, 2010, 04:02:15 PM »

Came across this interesting clip from one of Dr Zakir Naik's lectures. He claims there is no sects in Islam, but also goes on to say those who believe in the Quran and the authentic teachings of the prophet (hadiths) he is a true muslim. If a person goes against the Quran and the true teachings of the prophet then he is not a muslim. He has at least one thing right ;D

?This October has 5 Fridays, 5 Saturdays and 5 Sundays all in one month. It happens only once in 823 years.?

This has been going around the net this month and has been a topic of conversation among common folk. But has anyone really varified it? Is it possible?

For those of you who have spotted the hox, take a look at October 1999 calendar!

You won't have to wait 823 years for the next one to come along check Oct 2021, 2027, 2032.

If you think this is only unique to October then also check the calendars of: Jan 2010, July 2011, March 2013, Aug 2014, May 2015.

So if you were one of them who read and believed this story blindly I think there is a lesson to be learnt here:

17:36 And do not uphold what you have no knowledge of. For the
hearing, eyesight, and mind, all these you are responsible for.

Peace ;D

Sunni/Shia Religion / Laylat ul Isra and Miraj

Selam Brothers and Sisters

Apparently tonight is 'Night of the Journey and Ascension'. I never knew what it was before, but used to go to the mosque many times in the past to some how be involved. Last year I read up on it and found out what it was, here is an explenation if you did not know already.

Laylat ul Isra and Mi'raj is Arabic for the ?Night of the Journey and Ascension?. It is on 27th of Rajab. It is the night when Muhammad was, according to Hadiths, taken to ?the furthest mosque? (generally understood to be Jerusalem) on a Buraq (a beast resembling horse with wings; some people consider it a cherub) and ascended to the highest level of the heavens. It is said that he negotiated with God about the number of prayers, which started at fifty a day, but on his way down he met Moses, who asked him to ask for a reduction in the number because the requirement was difficult for Muhammad's people. Muhammad returned to God and several times asked for, and was granted a reduction of five prayers, until the number was reduced to five in total, with the blessing that if they were properly performed, the performers would be credited with fifty prayers instead of five. The event of this Night has also been described in Quran in Part 15 the beginning of Surah Isra.

Surah in question is I think 17:1:

17:1 Glory be to the One who took His servant by night from the Restricted
Temple to the most distant temple which We had blessed
around, so that We may show him of Our signs. Indeed, He is the
Hearer, the Seer.

I would like to gather the forums views on this. Thanks.

Christianity/Judaism/Others / Original teachings of Jesus Christ
« on: May 31, 2010, 04:48:43 PM »

I came across a site when browsing in and out of things and found this
It shows the monotheism of the early Christians and the books which were left out of the New Testament. Don?t have much knowledge on this so wanted to know what others think.

Chapter from the book by Dr.Vladimir Antonov
The Original Teachings of Jesus Christ
?? He alone exists? He has existed since all eternity, and His existence will have no end.
?He has no equal either in Heaven or on the Earth.
?The Great Creator has not shared His power with any living being?, He alone possesses omnipotence.? (The Life of Saint Issa, 5:16-17).
?The Eternal Lawgiver is one; there is no other god, but He. He has not shared the world with anyone, neither has He informed anyone of His intentions.? (The Life of Saint Issa, 6:10)
?? The Lord our God? is all-mighty, omniscient, and omnipresent. It is He who possesses all wisdom and all light. It is to Him you must address yourselves to be consoled in your sorrows, helped in your works, and cured in your sickness. Whosoever shall have recourse to Him shall not be denied.
?The secrets of nature are in the hands of God. For the world, before it appeared, existed in the depth of the divine thought; it became material and visible by the will of the Supreme.
?When you address yourselves to Him, become again as children; for you know neither the past, the present, nor the future, and God is the Master of all time.? (The Life of Saint Issa, 11:12-15).
?(He) is a Monocracy with nothing above It. ? He is God and Father of everything, the invisible One Who is above everything?, Who is in pure light, Whom no eye* can see.
?He is the invisible Spirit. It is not right to think of Him like you think of gods, or something similar. ? Everything exists in Him. ? He is illimitable, since there is nothing prior to Him to limit Him. ? He is immeasurable, since there was no one prior to Him to measure Him. ? He is eternal. ? He exists eternally. ? There is no way to tell His quantity? He is not contained in time?
?He is life-giving Life. He is blessedness-giving blessed One. He is wisdom-giving Wisdom. He is salvation-giving and love-giving Love.
?He is motionless; He resides in calm and silence. ? He directs His desires into His flow of Light. He is the Source of this flow of Light?? (The Apocryphon of John, 2:25-4:25)
?He is the Original Spirit? (The Apocryphon of John, 4:35, 5:10,15).
?This then is the message which we have heard from? (Jesus), and declare unto you, that God is Light, and in Him there is no darkness at all? (1 John 1:5).
?? The blessed? King, Who alone has immortality, dwelling in the Light?? (1 Tim 6:15-16).
?Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honor and glory for ever and ever. Amen.? (1 Tim 1:17).
The majority of these words of Jesus were not included in the New Testament by church leaders at the end of 4-th century after Jesus? visit on the Earth. And this predestined the deflection of the majority of Christians from monotheism. They have almost forgotten God-the-Father, though He and the Path to Him were the essence of Jesus? preachings. Thus, their ontological, epistemological, and methodological views became baseless.
Moreover, Russian Orthodoxy developed an anthropomorphic* concept of God-the-Father, which is a typical feature of paganism. It is illustrated on the icon Trinity, where God-the-Father is depicted as an old man sitting on a cloud. And to the right of Him ? sits Jesus. This notion was even accepted as the Orthodox Creed: ?I believe? (in) the Lord Jesus Christ?, ? sitting to the right of the Father??
But God-the-Father is not a flying old man. He is the Primordial Consciousness immeasurable in Its vastness, filling the whole universal space in His Abode, and not anthropomorphic at all. He is really infinite. How can one sit to the right of the Infinite?

Questions/Comments on the Quran / Ayat al-Kursi 2:255
« on: May 03, 2010, 04:02:54 PM »

I was asked today to find the translation of Ayat al-Kursi which as we know muslims all over the world hold as the most excellent verse. It amazes me still that people are told to recite abc and they have no knowledge of what they are actually saying, strange indeed.

Here is a site which gives the general background

So to keep it simple if this verse is recited the benefits are:

1. Holy prophet (SAWW) said: whoever recites the first 4 ayats of Surae Baqarah, then Ayatul Kursi and then the last 3 ayats of Surah e Baqarah, will not be inflicted with any kind of difficulty in his wealth or himself, Satan will not come near him and he will not forget the Qur'an.

2. Holy Prophet (SAWW) said: Qur'an is a great word, and Surae Baqarah is the leader of the Qur'an and Ayatul Kursi is the leader of Surae Baqarah. In Ayatul Kursi there are 50 words and for each word there are 50 blessings and good in it.

3. One who recites Ayatul Kursi every morning will be in the protection, safety of Allah until the night.

4. If one ties this to ones wealth or children, they will be safe from Satan

5. Our Holy Prophet (SAWW) has said: These things increase ones memory: sweets, meat of an animal near the neck, Adas (Lentils), cold bread and recitation of Ayatul Kursi.

6. For those of our dear ones who have passed away, recitation of Ayatul Kursi and giving it as Hadiya to them, gives them light (noor) in the grave.

7. Frequent recitation makes ones own death easy.

8. When leaving home, if one recites it once, the Almighty has one group of Angels to come and protect you. If recited twice, 2 groups of Angels are assigned to do this. If recited 3 times Allah tells the Angels not to worry as the Almighty himself takes care of him.

9. The Holy Prophet has said: If one recites Ayatul Kursi before going to sleep, Allah will send an Angel to come and look after you and protect

10. When one is alone in the house, recitation of Ayatul Kursi and asking Allah for help will make you remain calm and you will not fear.

11. The Holy Prophet has said: When leaving home,if one recites Ayatul Kursi, then Allah will send 70,000 Angels to do Istighfaar for him until he returns home, and upon his return Poverty will be removed from him.

12. If one recites this after performing Wudhoo, the 5th Imam Hadhrat Imam Muhammad Baqir (AS) has said: Allah will give him a reward of 40 years of Ibadaat, his position will be raised in the Heavens 40 times (levels) and will marry him to 40 Horains.

13. One who recites it after every prayer, their salaat will be accepted, they will remain in the safety of the Almighty and He will protect them.

14. Allah told Prophet Musa (AS): If one recites it after every salaat, the Almighty will make his heart a thankful one (Shakireen), will give him a reward of the prophets, and his deeds will be like those of the truthful (Siddiqeen).

15. To increase light or vision (noor) in the eyes, recite Surae Alhamd once, then Ayatul Kursi and then once the following dua:- "U-eedhu nora basaree binuril lahi alladhi la yutfaa", "I seek refuge for the light of my eyes by the light of Allah(SWT), which does not become extinguished".

Will like to hear others views on this. Thanks.
