salaam gLogic,

"working day and night" is already thus explained here (in these Verses; 17/79-81) above;
you will find the most straightforward, direct and clear answers to your all other questions when/if you go and read that "Most Miraculous Document" mentioned above.
So please, for now do not ask any more questions here, because I will not be able to answer for some time (=73/1-10).
So please, do what I have wholeheartedly and sincerely recommended you above, you may really be thankful to Al-lah, and may rightfully be enlightened and guided by Him, forever, if/when you do so. (62/2-4)
Remain in Salaam/Peace.

I submit myself to The Lord of the worlds, but I reject whatever it is you're selling.

:peace: I am ignorant about Sufi's - just wondering, do they follow any man made doctrines or practices outside of Quran?

Thanks.

The majority of Sufies are Sunnis, and from I have seen and read, they differ only in additional methods of worship, but still govern themselves by the Sunni madhabs.

Seems like reform Jewish temples might be ok to find other monotheist friends too, other than a uu church which I'm wary of for some reason.

I grew up protestant, and am now the only muslim in my known extended family. My parents and extended family are all rabidly anti-islam, and all believe the jews belong in palestine and that literally anything done by them is justified. My parents do not know I'm muslim, but my wife knows and is just quietly tolerant, but hates it.

You mentioned there are no mosques in your area. I have a few here in the Austin, TX area, but frankly i'm afraid of them. Maybe it's because I was raised to be afraid of Muslims, but if they knew my beliefs, I don't know what would happen, so I steer clear. The free-minds forum is the only believing community I have, so God bless all of you with muslim spouses!

Shalom Aleikhem,

I found the Qur'an having many such examples. For example:

2:286   God does not burden a soul except with what it can bear. For it is what it earns, and against it is what it earns. "Our Lord, do not mind us if we forget or make mistakes; our Lord, do not place a burden upon us as You have placed upon those before us; our Lord, do not place upon us what we cannot bear; pardon us, and forgive us, and have mercy on us; You are our patron, so grant us victory over the disbelieving people."

20:114 Then High above all is God, the King, the True. And do not be hasty with the Qur'an before its inspiration is completed to you, and say: "My Lord, increase my knowledge."

21:83    And Job when he called his Lord: "I have been afflicted with harm, and you are the Most Merciful of those who show mercy!"
21:84    So We answered him, and We removed what was afflicting him, and We brought him back his family and others with them as a mercy from Us and a reminder to those who serve.
21:85    And Ishmael and Enoch and Isaiah, all of them were patient.
21:86    And We admitted them in Our mercy, they were of the good doers.
21:87    And the one with 'N,' when he went off in anger, and he thought that We would not be able to take him. Then he called out in the darkness: "There is no god except You! Glory be to You, I was of the wicked!"
21:88    So We responded to him and We saved him from distress. And it is such that We save the faithful.
21:89    And Zachariah when he called out to his Lord: "My Lord, do not leave me without an heir, and You are the best inheritor."
21:90    So We responded to him, and We granted him John, and We cured his wife. They used to hasten to do good, and they would call to Us in joy and in fear. And of Us they were reverent.

So... like this.. I got many examples of duwa. Notice how God always emphasizes on how they were "good". So, I take it that no matter what, at the bare minimum, I have to be a nice person. :)

Peace
------------- Student of Allah

Peace be to you!

Thank you for this response, and these are good examples. It shows that God really did take away affliction when asked and does show mercy when called upon.

Please forgive my ignorance, but does the Quran give examples of what dua is appropriate for?

Example: as Allah does as he wills, and none die without his leave, I don't see the point in praying people's health.

Are there Quranic examples?

Hadith Discussions / Arab History
February 21, 2012, 11:26:58 AM
I was wondering today about the history of Islam after watching The Message. The movie was very touching, and seemed to represent what Islam is meant to be and not what it has been portrayed by in the media and certain groups.

Are there any arabic historical documents that are reliable and correspond with some of what the hadith describes as history of the region?

They are either liberalists or influenced by the West or inspired by the satanic feminism movement who claim that women should have the same rights as men

STOP MISGUIDING MY FAMILY MEMBERS!!! COME BACK TO SUNNAH OF THE PROPHET!! FOR GODS SAKE!!!

Ok Ok. After this ridiculous claim, I have come to the conclusion that you are a troll, and not possibly not even a muslim at all. Women having the same rights as men is satanic? Wow...just, Wow. This troll needs to stop being fed, because he LOVES it.
