Thus they follow what resembles it (the Quran).

Brother Mazhar,
Is the above translation correct of the above part of the ayat?

The meaning of Mutashbehat that would fit in all occurrences of this word in Quran is 'Similar'.

As  Sura Al-Imran Ayat 7 (3:7) states, the Quranic Ayahs can be considered to be of two broad categories. Ones which contain Hukum or orders and others which are termed as mutashabehat or Similar ones. The mutashabehat Ayahs are further defined in 39:23 to be written ones, similar ones and repeated ones. So mutashabehat Ayats are those which are similar to one another and are repeated in Quran. They are not ambiguous Ayahs containing confusions or abstractions, as some translations suggest. Mutashabeha means 'similar' in Quran such as Ayats 6:99 and 6:141 suggest, when they mention similar fruits.

The Ayat 3:7 states that the people who have crookedness in their hearts they follow what is similar to the Ayahs and Al-Quran. Please carefully note that this Ayat states that these people do not follow the mutashabehat or Similar Ayahs, instead they follow what is similar to these mutashabehat Ayats. Practically we observe that in many lectures on Quranic topics, the lecturer will read an Ayat or few Ayahs from Al-Quran but then he will tell details related to these Ayahs from other books.  The story being told will have some resemblance to the narration in these Ayajs but it will not be purely from Quran. People who are fascinated with these stories which have some resemblance with Quranic Ayahs, are said to be those who have crookedness in their hearts.

Those people with crookedness in their hearts will have fascination with these stories and in order to find Taweel or details they follow what would seem similar to the Quran. But those people who are established in Knowledge, they believe in all Ayahs of Quran  and they do not seek fascination in finding Taweels of similar and repeated Ayats. they know that the details are only known to Allah, so nobody, no matter how great they are considered by people, would know the Taweel or interpretation. The Tafseers written by so called great scholars of yore, are just their personal opinions and beliefs.

Prophets and Messengers / Re: Peculiar Death of Sulaiman
« on: August 30, 2020, 12:29:49 PM »
Traditional concept associated with the ayat 34:14 is that prophet Suleiman (a.s) died while leaning on his stick and did not fall until the stick was eaten away by a worm which must take a substantial amount of time. When the stick gave way, only then he fell. Till that time nobody knew that he was dead. This concept is ridiculous as a dead man can not lean on a stick after his death, the body will definitely fall right away. Also, in addition to the jinns, the king must have his family who cannot remain oblivious to him standing at one place for weeks without eating and drinking and coming to them. Also, a king has a lot of state duties which cannot allow the king to refrain from attending to the affairs of the state even for a short duration without raising concerns of the attendants and Government agencies.

It could be that the word 'Minsat' i.e the staff/stick, denotes his lifespan. Prophet Suleiman's life-span like everybody else, was being eaten away by creature of earth (bacteria/virus or natural progression towards death of any living being on earth), however the Jinns who are quite knowledgeable and capable otherwise, don't have knowledge about essence of life and death. What is it when it leaves the body, a fully functional body alive a moment ago, becomes dead while all the organs and ingredients are still intact in the body? These mysteries of life will still remain despite advancement in knowledge.

The rebellious technologically advanced people when they will try to pry into space, they will have a piercing flame of fire following them (the rocket with jet fuel burning and trailing blazing flame of fire) and will be facing bombardment of radioactive particles and other dangers of space travel. A very few of these people will be able to venture into space after taking protections from the risks of space travel. The below link explores Ayahs related to this topic.

China wall is not of iron and copper.

Right, brother.
The whole present wall of China, would not be the one built in Zulqarnain's era. May be a small part of it was initiated by Zalqarnain, which may be later built upon and extended by subsequent nations. The original part of the wall may have iron reinforcement inside present day bricks and stones.
Allah knows best.

Some researchers have the opinion that the route mentioned of Zulqarnain, is the one of the silk road networks which was an established route mainly in China, connecting Asia to middle east and Europe in medieval times. Later we see mention of a wall in this story. A great wall, which was built to stop invaders from attacking communities, is also associated with China. So, the setting of this story of Zulqarnain is most probably in the Asian region of China/Mongolia/Korea. There is a muddy stream mentioned in the Ayas as well. The muddy stream should be a river carrying lot of silt so that it appears muddy. In China there exists a river which carries so much silt with it that the people call it ?the Yellow river?. This river is also known with the name of ?muddy flow? by local folks. Also, Zalqarnain?s next leg of journey is said to be culminating in a place where there was no covering from Sun. This setting sounds like a desert where there is no shelter from the sun. The likely place is some where in Gobi Desert near China/Mongolia border. The below link gives indication of the likely geographical locations related to this story:

Do we know for sure how other animal species came into being? For example how horses or cows emerged? Did they come from one single pair or a community of them formed simultaneously?

Also, if some one can shed light on their understanding of the 8 types of cattle mentioned in above Ayat as being sent down.

Thanks

Salam sister
Seems like an indication that God intends a better means of income for you than your present job. I had some problems with my boss in the past then I took solace from the emotional management guidelines in Quran, i.e not to blame anyone for your miseries, not your boss or God. For the present until you have this job, don't consider your boss to be the one causing the problems. Even if you lose your job, God promises bounties for the believers. It is Satan who makes us fearful of poverty in the world.

And those who, when a wrong reaches them, they help themselves

The believers help themselves when they are wronged from the knowledge of the fact that the oppressor who have oppressed them will meet similar fate (by Allah) i.e fully recompensed by Allah for their wrongful acts.

The recompense for a wrong doing is a similar wrong doing (which will be inflicted by Allah). but if a person forgives and makes correction, his reward is due from Allah. for (Allah) does not love those who do wrong.

The point here is that the recompense of the wrong will be inflicted by Allah, therefore taking revenge is not allowed, and the person who forgives with this knowledge, will be compensated by Allah.

But indeed if any do help themselves after a wrong (done) to them, against such there is no way.

If the believer retaliate to an oppressor with a similar wrongdoing, then he will be in the same boat, therefore the believers must help themselves with the knowledge that this is not their way of doing things.

This way is for those who oppress people and do wrong-doings in the Earth without right, for such there will be a grievous penalty.

and the one who shows patience and forgive, that would truly be from the great affairs

Nor is goodness and Evil equal. Repel (Evil) with what is better. Then will he between whom and thee was hatred become as it were your friend and intimate!

Again it is said that that goodness and badness are not equal. The order for the believers is to respond to badness and hurts with something much better. They have to respond the wrongdoing on them with a good response and the result will be end of hatred among former enemies.
