Peace Samia,

Quoteif chopping hands lowers theft rates, why don't they chop the hands of those who steal from the treasury and then we shall have the lowest corruption rate in the world?

I am taking only the Saudi society under consideration and not the state.

QuoteYou also say (one of the lowest). Can you tell us which is the lowest rate of theft in the world? What are the lowest rates of theft in the world amongst which SA is one? Why isn't SA the all-lowest?

In the comparative studies carried out by comparing INTERPOL data in 2000 to compare crime rates, saudi arabia had the lowest theft rate  but i do not have the latest figures and you can ask people living there that how safe and secure it is if you do nt trust the figures. Japan has the second lowest after saudi arabia  but is much higher in compare to saudi arabia.

Saudi Arabia will be compared with Japan (country with a low crime rate) and USA (country with a high crime rate). According to the INTERPOL data, for murder, the rate in 2000 was 0.71 per 100,000 population for Saudi Arabia, 1.10 for Japan, and 5.51 for USA. For rape, the rate in 2000 was 0.14 for Saudi Arabia, compared with 1.78 for Japan and 32.05 for USA. For robbery, the rate in 2000 was 0.14 for Saudi Arabia, 4.08 for Japan, and 144.92 for USA. For aggravated assault, the rate in 2000 was 0.12 for Saudi Arabia, 23.78 for Japan, and 323.62 for USA. For burglary, the rate in 2000 was 0.05 for Saudi Arabia, 233.60 for Japan, and 728.42 for USA. The rate of larceny for 2000 was 79.71 for Saudi Arabia, 1401.26 for Japan, and 2475.27 for USA. The rate for motor vehicle theft in 2000 was 76.25 for Saudi Arabia, compared with 44.28 for Japan and 414.17 for USA. The rate for all index offenses combined was 157.12 for Saudi Arabia, compared with 1709.88 for Japan and 4123.97 for USA.

DEBKAfile Special Report

August 17, 2008, 9:18 PM (GMT+02:00)

DEBKAfile's military sources report Moscow's planned retaliation for America's missile interceptors in Poland and US-Israeli military aid to Georgia may come in the form of installing Iskandar surface missiles in Syria and its Baltic enclave of Kaliningrad.

Russian Baltic and Middle East warships, submarines and long-range bombers may be armed with nuclear warheads, according to Sunday newspapers in Europe.

In Georgia, Russian troops and tanks advanced to within 30 km of Tbilisi Saturday, Aug. 15. A Russian general said Sunday they had started pulling out after president Dimitry Medvedev signed the ceasefire agreement with Georgia and president George W. Bush called again for an immediate withdrawal.

After routing Georgia over the breakaway enclaves of South Ossetia and Abkhazia, Moscow appears to be eying Poland, the Middle East, and possibly Ukraine, as the main arenas for its reprisals.

One plan on the table in Moscow, DEBKAfile's sources report, is the establishment of big Russian military, naval and air bases in Syria and the release of advanced weapons systems withheld until now to Iran (the S-300 air-missile defense system) and Syria (the nuclear-capable 200 km-range Iskandar surface missile).

Shortly before the Georgian conflict flared, Moscow promised Washington not to let Iran and Syria have these sophisticated pieces of hardware.

The Iskander's cruise attributes make its launch and trajectory extremely hard to detect and intercept. If this missile reaches Syria, Israel will have to revamp its anti-missile defense array and Air Force assault plans for the third time in two years, as it constitutes a threat which transcends all its defensive red lines.

Moscow's war planners know this and are therefore considering new sea and air bases in Syria as sites for the Iskander missiles. Russia would thus keep the missiles under its hand and make sure they were not transferred to Iran. At the same time, Syrian crews would be trained in their operation.

DEBKAfile's military sources report Syrian president Bashar Assad will be invited to Moscow soon to finalize these plans in detail.

Military spokesmen in Moscow said Saturday and Sunday that Russian military planners to started redesigning the nation?s strategic plans for a fitting response to America's decision to install 10 missile interceptors in Poland and the war developments in Georgia.

The chairman of the Israeli Knesset foreign affairs and defense committee, Tzahi Hanegbi, spoke out strongly Sunday, Aug. 17, against treasury plans to slash the defense budget. He warned that the military faced grave confrontations in the coming year - possibly on several fronts.

http://www.debka.com/headline.php?hid=5513

I considered russia had become a helpless spectator in watching imperialist west grow its might. The Criminal assault by american trained Georgian military on south ossetia was too much  for russia. It may change the geopolitical map and iran may survive. The west especially nato are surprised as they thought that the russians will never wake from the coma after the breakdown of USSR. They cant think of a strategy to punish russia.

Peace Jonny_k,

QuoteJK- Oh really? Then please explain to me why the Quran ALWAYS uses these terms in the following manner "BASHARAN rassoolan", bashar being common, "SIDDIQAN nabiyyan", siddiq being common and "RASSOLAN nabbiyan", where according to the previous two RASOOL and not nabi must be common. You cannot deny this clear order arranaged by GOD plus all the other verses i used to prove that a messenger need not be a prophet. GOD Bless!

Bashar can be any human. But in this case he is a  CHOSEN HUMAN who is not like other humans as he has an established communication with God which a normal human cannot aspire to achieve. A normal human can pray but God does not communicate directly or indirectly with him but in the case of CHOSEN HUMAN God answers by various means.
Similarly a messenger could be any message bearer but in this case a messenger is special as he delivers God's message which God has communicated to him. A prophet could be anyone foretelling future events but in this case he is the one who foretells God's plan for the future of mankind which God has told him by communication.

Peace Jonny_k,

QuoteJK- I dont care what Lane mentions when the Quran's statements clearly prove otherwise as ive shown. This is a sectarian concept and lane although it contains many neutral meanings it does at times also mention the sectarian understandings.

There is no  any hadith that I have ever heard that indicates the difference between prophets and messengers. Please quote me one. All commentators have derived all their understanding from the Quran.

Peace Farida,

Yes I agree that some women human rights activists may be good but overall they have spread moral decay.

Liberal feminists believe that personal ?rights? should predominate over concerns for the social good. This political view goes back to the early feminism of John Stuart Mill, who believed that government should stay out of the private affairs of its citizens.25 The oppression liberal feminists identify involves the injustices fostered by gender roles which favor men over women. The liberal feminist wants to free women from oppressive gender roles. This focus bears a similarity to the existentialist position which seeks equality of rights and freedoms between women and men. But just because liberal feminists tend to see the choice of prostitution as an inherent political right does not necessarily mean that they all approve of prostitution in a moral sense.

Peace Jonny_k,

I do not know which story about the red mosque is true because it is so near the Parliament house and president's house that no weapons on such a large scale can be transferred so easily without anyone knowing(high security). And even if weapons were transferred it is the governments' version of events as independent observers were not given any access to the events that took place inside the Mosque. Why did the dead bodies disappeared ?
Exact numbers that were killed are unknown as it is the governments version of report since all media was out of bounds even after the operation has ended.

The bottom line is that the dead bodies were not revealed to anyone and they were disappeared and there were girls under 10 years old as well so at least their bodies should have been handed over to the people. Why hide all the facts ? No independent court inquiry was ever carried out. Government official should also be blamed because the red mosque is so near to their head quarters that it happened right  under their noses. How could heavy weapons that are claimed by the media be transferred in an area almost next door to the government's throne. It means it is very easy to take over the government itself. I watched the operation closely on the tv and all media agreed that no access was given to them even after the operation had ended to count exactly how many had died who were disappeared.

Peace all,

Here are some end of times hadith:

These ahadith are cited in the Six Books of authentic traditions for the most part. They have been collated for the most part from the following two books written in refutation of the Wahhabi heresy: a) al-Sayyid al-`Alawi ibn Ahmad ibn Hasan ibn `Abd Allah ibn `Alawi al-Haddad: Misbah al-anam wa jala' al-zalam fi radd shubah al-bid`i al-Najdi al-lati adalla biha al- `awamm ["The Lamp of Creatures and the Illumination of Darkness Concerning the Refutation of the Errors of the Innovator From Najd by Which He Had Misled the Common People"] published 1325H.
b) al-Sayyid Ahmad ibn Zayni al-Dahlan (d. 1304/1886). Mufti of Mecca and Shaykh al-Islam in the Hijaz region of the Ottoman state: Khulasat al-kalam fi bayan umara' al-balad al-haram ["The Summation Concerning the Leaders of the Holy Sanctuary"] (A History of the Wahhabi Fitna in Najd and the Hijaz) p. 234-236.
The Prophet said, Peace be upon him:

1. "They [Khawarij = those outside] transferred the Qur'anic verses meant to refer to unbelievers and made them refer to believers."

2. "What I most fear in my community is a man who interprets verses of the Qur'an out of context."

3. "The confusion [fitna] comes from there (and he pointed to the East = Najd in present-day Eastern Saudi Arabia)."

4. "A people that recite Qur'an will come out of the East, but it will not go past their throats. They will pass through the religion (of Islam) like the arrow passes through its quarry. They will no more come back to the religion than the arrow will come back to its course. Their sign is that they shave (their heads)."

5. "There will be in my Community a dissent and a faction, a people with excellent words and vile deeds. They will read Qur'an, but their faith does not go past their throats. They will pass through religion the way an arrow passes through its quarry. They will no more come back to the religion than the arrow will come back to its original course. They are the worst of human beings and the worst of all creation. The one who kills them or is killed by them is blessed. They summon to the book of Allah but they have nothing to do with it. Whoever kills them is closer to Allah than they. Their sign is that they shave (their heads)."

6. "A people will come out at the end of times, immature, foolish and corrupt. They will hold the discourse of the best of creation and recite Qur'an, but it will not go past their throats. They will pass through religion the way an arrow passes through its quarry. If you find them, kill them, for verily whoever kills them will have his reward from Allah the Day of Judgment."

7. "There will be people in my Community whose mark is that they shave (their heads). They will recite Qur'an, but it will not go past their throats. They will pass through religion the way an arrow passes through its target. They are the worst of human beings and the worst of all creation."

8. "The apex of disbelief is towards the East [Najd]. Pride and arrogance is found among the people of the horse and the camel [Bedouin Arabs]."

9. "Harshness and dryness of heart are in the East [Najd], and true belief is among the people of Hijaz."

10. "O Allah, bless our Syria and our Yemen!" They said: "Ya Rasulallah, and our Najd!" He didn't reply. He blessed Syria and Yemen twice more. They asked him to bless Najd twice more but he didn't reply. The third time he said: "There [in Najd] are the earthquakes and the dissensions, and through it will dawn the epoch [or horn] of shaytan."

11. A version has, "The two epochs [or horns] of shaytan." Some scholars have said that the dual referred to Musaylima the Arch-liar and to Muhammad ibn `Abd al-Wahhab.

12. Some versions continue with the words: "And in it [Najd] is the consuming disease," i.e. death.

13. Some books of history mention the following version in the chapters devoted to the battles against the Banu Hanifa:

"At the end of times a man will come out of Musaylima's country and he will change the religion of Islam." Note: Most of the Khawarij were from the Najd area, from the tribes of Banu Hanifa, Banu Tamim, and Wa'il. Musaylima was from the Banu Hanifa, and Ibn `Abd al-Wahhab is from Tamim.

13a. Abu Bakr said concerning the Banu Hanifa (the tribe of Musaylima the Liar): "Their valley [Najd] will not cease to be a valley of dissensions until the end of time, and the religion will never recover from their liars until Judgment Day," and in another version: "Woe to al-Yamama without end."

13b. When `Ali killed the Khawarij, someone said: "Praise be to Allah Who has brought them down and relieved us from them." Ali replied: "Verily, by the One in Whose hand is my soul, some of them are still in the loins of men and they have not been born yet, and the last of them will fight on the side of the Antichrist."

14. "A people that recite the Qur'an will come out of the East, but it will not go past their throats. Every time a generation of them is cut down another one will come until the last one finds itself on the side of the Antichrist."

15. "There will be a huge confusion within my Community. There will not remain one house of the Arabs except that confusion will enter it. Those who die because of it are in the fire. The harm of the tongue in it will be greater than that of the sword."

16. "There will be a dissension (in which people will be) deaf, dumb and blind (this means they will be blind and not see the true issue nor listen to the voice of truth): whoever tries to control it, the dissension will control him."

17. "A shaytan will appear in Najd by whose dissension the Arabian island will quake."

18. On the authority of al-`Abbas: "A man will come out of the Wadi Abu Hanifah [in Najd] (whose appearance is) like a bull that lunges against its yoke. There will be much slaughter and killing in his time. They will make the possessions of Muslims lawful for themselves and for trade among themselves. They will make the lives of Muslims lawful for themselves and for boasting among themselves. In that confusion the despised and the lowly will attain positions of power. Their idle desires will keep company with them the way a dog keeps company with its master."

19. On the authority of Abu Sa`id al-Khudri: "Verily in the wake of this time of mine comes a people who will recite Qur'an but it will not go past their throats. They will pass through religion the way an arrow passes through its quarry. They will kill the Muslims and leave the idolaters alone. If I saw them, verily I would kill them the way the tribe of `Aad was killed [i.e. all of them]."

20. "There will be towards the end of time a people who will say to you what neither you nor your forebears ever heard before. Beware of them lest they misguide you and bring you confusion."

21. "They will pass through Islam like an arrow passes through its quarry. Wherever you meet them, kill them!"

22. "They are the dogs of the people of Hell."

23. "They recite Qur'an and consider it in their favor but it is against them."

24. "There will be thirty dajjals (antichrists) after me, all claiming prophethood."

25. "Some people will be standing and calling at the gates of hell; whoever responds to their call, their will throw him into the Fire. They will be from our own people [i.e. Arabs] and will speak our language [Arabic]. Should you live to see them, stick to the main body (jama`a) of the Muslims and their leader. (If there is no main body and no leader,) isolate yourself from all these sects, even if you have to eat from the roots of trees until death overcomes you while you are in that state."

26. "Just before the Hour there will be many liars." Jabir ibn Samurah said: "Be on your guard against them."

27. "The Hour will not come until thirty dajjals appear, all of them lying about Allah and His Messenger."

28. "There will be Dajjals and liars among my Community. They will tell you something new, which neither you nor your forefathers have heard. Be on your guard against them and do not let them lead you astray."

29. "The time of the Dajjal will be years of confusion. People will believe a liar, and disbelieve one who tells the truth. People will distrust one who is trustworthy, and trust one who is treacherous; and the ruwaybidha will have a say." Someone asked: "Who are they?" He said: "Those who rebel against Allah and will have a say in general affairs."

30. "If the leadership is entrusted to those unfit for it, expect the Hour."

31. "You will see the barefoot ones, the naked, the destitute, the shepherds and camelherds take pride in building tall structures in abundance."

32. "One of the signs of the change of religion is the affectation of eloquence by the rabble and their betaking to palaces in big cities."

Peace jonny_k,

QuoteYou have not yet answered my reply where ive proven to you from Quran that "messenger" is the general term in the phrase "rassolan nabiyyan". ALSO further proof that messenger is the general term are these verses:
[4:164]  Messengers(RUSUL) we have told you about before you, and messengers we never told you about. And GOD spoke to Moses directly.
[40:78]  We have sent messengers(rusul) before you - some of them we mentioned to you, and some we did not mention to you. No messenger can produce any miracle without GOD's authorization. Once GOD's judgment is issued, the truth dominates, and the falsifiers are exposed and humiliated.

NEVER does GOD make the same claim about prophets(nabiyeen/anbiya) that some prophets have been mentioned whilst others havent been. Coincidence? GOD Bless!

As I explained earlier that a messenger of God, if he is a human is also a prophet as well. The basic function of the prophet is to preach God's message as various prophets were sent to Jews between Moses and Jesus but some were killed as mentioned in Quran. The messenger not only preaches God's message but also delivers a scripture and a system of laws to the people. Moreover no messenger mentioned in Quran had ever been killed. The messengers of God carry a message universal to the whole world at  their respective times. Prophets may preach only locally who are not messengers meaning that they do not carry a universal message for all people in the form of a scripture . When a messenger is also a prophet then you cannot claim that Quran nowhere says that some prophets are not mentioned.

Lane clearly mentions that every messenger is also a prophet but not very prophet can be a messenger.

http://www.studyquran.org/LaneLexicon/Volume8/00000007.pdf

This is where God mentions prophets who are in general terms we do not know who they were or their names.

3:84 Say: ?We believe in God and what was sent down to us and what was sent down to Abraham and Ishmael and Isaac and Jacob and the Patriarchs, and what was given to Moses and Jesus and the prophets from their Lord. We do not make any distinction between them, and to Him we submit.?

Below is how prophet hood and messengers are being mentioned.

57:25   We have sent Our messengers with clear proofs, and We sent down with them the Scripture and the balance, so that the people may uphold justice. And We sent down the iron, wherein there is great strength, and many benefits for the people. So that God would distinguish those who would support Him and His messengers on faith. God is Powerful, Noble.
57:26   And We had sent Noah and Abraham, and We placed in their progeny the prophethood and the Scripture. Some of them were guided, while many were wicked.
57:27   Then We sent in their tracks Our messengers. We sent Jesus the son of Mary, and We gave him the Injeel, and We ordained in the hearts of his followers kindness and mercy. But they invented Monasticism which We never decreed for them. They wanted to please God, but they did not observe it the way it should have been observed. Consequently, We gave those who believed among them their recompense, while many of them were wicked.

Prophet hood and messengers are being distinguished.

6:89   Those to whom We have given the Scripture, and the law, and the prophethood, if they reject it, then We will entrust it to a people who will not reject it.

Giving of the scripture and the law signifies a messenger who is also a prophet. If there is no difference so why would God mention them in verses in such a way.

Peace Farida,

QuoteSalaam,

I agree but what about the powerful Muslim and Pakistani feminists, who enjoy the limelight whenever there is some discussion about rights of Muslim women, Saudi women, victim of gang rape  etc. These women   are considered advocates of democracy and woman?s right  where are  they,  are they speaking up for woman,?
In Pakistan a prominent Judge is sacked, he was investigating the disappearance of innocent people and forbade the practice of extraditing people without a fair trial,. The lawyers movement is not only for this judge but for the whole justice system and we are all waiting to see were this war of justice and injustice will take Pakistan.

These women human rights activists are more strongly vocal for taking off the head covers than do realistic help by speaking of crimes against women commited by the pakistani goverment agencies and the western imperialists. They hate their own culture more than the crimes of imperials. They are such a disgrace for Human rights. They are so cruel that they praised the red mosque massacre in Islamabad in which the dead bodies of dead girls were not even handed over to their guardians for funerals. A father of a killed student spoke of the cruelty as worse than that of the american forces as they at least do hand over dead bodies do their loved ones for funerals.

Peace all,

A schizophrenic person may hear auditory voices or even the voices in his mind which he may claim are ordering him to do something and may claim that according to the voice it is from God. These kind of people  were said to be insane and the word for insanity used in Quran is "Majnoon" which means literally as someone possessed by a Jinn or a spirit as called in english. They may in some cases get treated by exorcism made by reciting verses of the Quran or may need treatment of a medical psychiatrist.

Here is an article which describes how such people were perceived throughout the history.

"The platonic ideas of a connection between madness and prophecy recur in the ancient Israel. The highly esteemed religious prophets were often regarded as mad because of their odd utterances and deviant clothes and behavior. The same conceptions later appear in the Koran in the Islamic countries. The Koran uses the word majnoon to describe mad persons as well as prophets."

http://www.hubin.org/facts/history/history_schizophrenia_en.html

List of quranic verses that describe how prophet muhammad was perceived as a madman by the unbelievers.

Chapter 15
15:6 And they said: ?O you upon whom the Reminder has been sent down, you are crazy.?
Chapter 37
37:36 And they would say: ?Shall we leave our gods because of a crazy poet??
Chapter 44
44:14 But they turned away from him and said: ?Clearly educated, but crazy!?
Chapter 51
51:39 But he turned away, in arrogance, and he said: ?A magician, or crazy.?
51:52 Likewise, when a messenger went to those before them, they said: ?A magician, or crazy.?
Chapter 54
54:9 The people of Noah disbelieved before them. They disbelieved Our servant and said: ?He is crazy!? and he was oppressed.
Chapter 68
68:51 And those who have rejected almost attack you with their eyes when they hear the reminder, and they say: ?He is crazy!?
Chapter 81
81:22 And your friend is not crazy.

To verify by reason alone whether a man claiming prophet hood is really telling the truth or not is a an issue as if he is disobeyed the nation is to be immidiately destroyed by God as in the past.

21:4    Say: ?My Lord knows what is said in the heavens and in the Earth, and He is the Hearer, the Knower.?
21:5   They said: ?No, these are just bad dreams; no, he made it up; no, he is a poet. So let him bring us a sign like those who were sent before.?
21:6   None of the towns which We destroyed before them had believed. Will they believe?
21:7   And We did not send before you except men whom We inspired to. So ask the people of the remembrance if you do not know.
21:8   And We did not make for them bodies that do not need to eat, nor were they immortal.
21:9   Then We fulfilled the promise to them, so We saved them and whom We pleased, and We destroyed those who transgressed.
21:10   We have sent down to you a Scripture in which is your remembrance. Do you not comprehend?
21:11   And how many a town have We destroyed because of its wrong doing, and We established after them a different people?
21:12   So it was that when they perceived Our power, they were running from it.
21:13   ?Do not run, and come back to that which you were living lavishly in and your homes; so that you will be questioned.?
21:14   They said: ?Woe to us, we have been wicked!?
21:15   So that remained as their cry until We took them all, and they became still.

Theological rationality is called Ilmul kalam in arabic and is a very complex issue to discuss so if you do not believe that Quran is a legitimate revelation given through messenger and prophet muhammad to mankind then you can engage in a rational theological debate.

Please read this book "The proof prophethood" to broaden your knowledge about the issue. This books gives in depth perspectives of how to verify a prophet.

http://www.hakikatkitabevi.com.tr/download/english/09-TheProofOfProphethood.pdf

True that messenger can be any bearer of a message but in the case of prophet who is a messenger as well is to deliver the God's revelations to mankind. It is a fact in Quran that although prophets had been killed but no prophet who was a messenger as well had ever been killed.
