Title: Do you agree? The splitting of the sea.
Post by: NK on June 07, 2018, 06:31:12 PM
Salam all,

I have read following explanation of the splitting of the sea in the article. It was a long article but I am copying pasting the relevant section below and would like all of you to share your opinion.

"The Qur?an does not support the idea that the Red Sea split into two enormous walls of water through which Moses crossed. Instead, the Quran (44:25) states that Moses took advantage of the changing of tides ? crossing at ebb tide, when the water recedes so much that one can cross by foot. Here, the Quran employs the word rahwan, which means ?calm? as well as ?an intervening space? ? an apt description of the receding tide. According to the Quran, God told Prophet Moses to cross during the time of low tide, ?Then We revealed to Moses, saying, ?Strike the sea with thy rod.? Thereupon it parted, and every part looked like a huge sand-hill? (26:64). Pharaoh, following at some distance with chariots and heavy armaments, arrived at the Red Sea after Moses had already crossed and fell victim to the rising tide (26:65-67). In fact, the scientific periodical PLoS ONE recently published an article on the plausibility of this event, particularly examining a phenomenon known as ?wind setdown.? In addition, not only is the account scientifically tenable, but the French revolutionary Napoleon survived a similar experience during his life".

44:25?

26:61 -   "When the two groups saw each other, Moses' companions said, We are sure to be overtaken. Moses replied, No, My Lord is with me, and He will guide me. So We inspired Moses: ?Strike the sea with your staff,? and the sea was split, each part was like a huge mountain.

Really couldn't be clearer! Most definitely the sea was parted when Moses was instructed to strike it with his staff.

3:7 "It is He who has revealed to you the Book. Some of its verses are muḥ'kamātun / مُحْكَمَاتٌ (sound in judgement, possess knowledge or science and wisdom) - they are the foundation of the Book - and others mutashābihātun / مُتَشَابِهَاتٌ (resembling, parallel, alike, similar to). Those whose hearts are infected with disbelief follow the mutashābihātun / مُتَشَابِهَاتٌ/ part, seeking l-fit'nati / الْفِتْنَةِ, and seeking it's meaning, but none knows it's meaning accept God, those firm in the knowledge say: "WE BELIEVE IN IT all is from our rabb, none will take heed except men of understanding."   :jedi:

Exodus - Eyewitness account

From Egypt to At-Tur [Mount in Sinai] by crossing over Gulf of Suez

Exodus of Bani Iesraa'eel-  - the sons of Iesraa'eel alai'his'slaam from Egypt to Peninsula of Sinai is one of the most discussed events of the history of Jews which is rendered blurred by conjectural, hypothetical and imaginative stories. However, the Grand Qur?ān has described the event in such picturesque manner that we can watch it as if we are watching its footage recorded by a camera.

Allah the Exalted has mentioned some episodes particularly those about which many people were or could be rendered in a perplexed and confused state of mind by Epistemology of Testimony. It is a known fact that many Psychological Manipulators distort the history and spread conjectural myths.

One such narrative is about the Exodus of the sons of Iesraa'eel alai'his'slaam from Egypt to Peninsula of Sinai. Narrative is a Factual Recount. Narrative texts have to do with real-world events and time. The purposes of narrative may be to inform, to persuade and/or to correct the record, rectify the falsities gleaned by people from the Epistemology of Testimony.

Narrative writing uses time as its deep structure. Language features of narrative text are:

Adverb of time.

Past tense.

Time conjunction (when, then, thereat, suddenly, etc)

Specific character. The character of the episode is specific, not general.

Action verbs. A verb that shows an action.

Direct speech. It is to make the episode lively.
