Title: The Qur'an in .sqlite format
Post by: عوني on January 31, 2017, 06:41:27 AM
Any other developer around? I'm wondering if you know where I can find the Qur'an (on all translations in English) in .sqlite format? I've tried looking and haven't been able to find one, and trying to convert one from .sql to .sqlite is giving errors

I'm not using SQL Lite, but if you need any help maybe I can help you. I'm currently working on some project for myself and I'm using Delphi and php, with mySQL and txt/ini files.

I am not a developer but is it not possible to import the data via excel?
May I ask why you need it in .sqlite?

I'm not into back end development (yet) but I think you can get a JSON format of the quran using one of the plenty available Quran APIs, and then try to convert the JSON object to a SQLite. Stackoverflow might help you.

Peace,

Should be relatively easy to covert using the right tools, what have you tried, and what errors do you get?

Thanks all for answering.. I tried the qurandatabase site before but sadly couldn't find for .sqlite format. I managed to solve it though, I converted it from .sql into a .csv file and then finally to sqlite and it worked like a charm. The reason why I want .sqlite format is because I'm building a software for a friend that's similar to corpus qur'an and I don't want to use MySQL for example to look up verses in the software since it requires you to be connected to a server and therefor not a good practise and is pretty slow (especially the one for C#) when you open a connection.. Sqlite is faster and I want to keep it to SQL since I know the syntax very well, having used it for years now so I went with sqlite.

The JSON option might be possible but I did something similar and it worked and yep honestly I was considering Stackoverflow after all the frustration of trying to convert it.

Peace,

It was definently not easy. The tools I used to convert from .sql to .sqlite didin't really convert it into an .sqlite format, it only changed the file type while leaving the content the same.

Peace,

What kind of software are you developing? I've been thinking lately of an Android app to simplify study

Well done Awni :)

Thank you :)

And so people know it's Savage_Carrot's idea to create the software so all credits goes to her. 8) It's an awesome idea

Just a software that will make it easier for you to study the Qur'an.. Similar to Corpus Qur'an
