I am thankful for people who don't let the seemingly endless amounts of violence and cruelty in the world turn them into cynical and bitter a-holes.  It's much easier to collapse into despair than it is to maintain the discipline necessary to live a healthy and happy life.  Some years back, I was likely in danger of descending into bitterness/depression, so I am thankful for the myriad of positive influences that are out there to help humanity transform this world into what I perceive to be its intended design.  In spite of the world today, I do believe that the pulse of the universe is biased toward love and harmony, as opposed to chaos and hatred.

Peace path of light,

Yes you are correct that we should be grateful and not let shaitayn trick us
into being unappreciative.  Please keep reminding us with your list.

[14:31] Exhort My servants who believed to observe the Contact Prayers (Salat),
and to give (to charity) from our provisions to them, secretly and publicly, before
a day comes where there is neither trade, nor nepotism.

[14:32] GOD is the One who created the heavens and the earth, and He sends
down from the sky water to produce all kinds of fruit for your sustenance. He has
committed the ships to serve you on the sea in accordance with His command.
He has committed the rivers as well to serve you.

[14:33] He has committed the sun and the moon in your service, continuously.
He has committed the night and the day to serve you.

[14:34] And He gives you all kinds of things that you implore Him for. If you
count GOD's blessings, you can never encompass them. Indeed, the human
being is transgressing, unappreciative.

God is Bountiful

Today, I am thankful for sports writing.  Yes, on many levels, professional sports are a distraction and do a lot of harm to the masses.  However, on its best days, sports, when not taken too seriously, are a good source of entertainment and they can also bring people together.  Like all things, they are good in moderation.  I don't really watch a lot of sports, but I like to read about particular teams (Cleveland Cavaliers).

As always, I am thankful for the Creator.

Breath (even when I'm stressed, I can't ignore the fact that I'm blessed to have breath)

God.

People have come and gone in my life either by choice or death.  Possessions I have had and lost.  Health has not always been the best at times.   The only thing that has been constant through it all has been God.   No matter where or what, I know that God will always be there for me.  I  may lose everything I have and own or can see or feel or touch but the only thing that I will never lose is God.  When I thought about what I am grateful for, God is all that I can think of.

Peace Man of Faith,

:) what I mean by the "old" Man of Faith circa 1/13 is in January (1/13) you were not
engaged in so much unproductive bickering, but recently I was forced to ignore those
exchanges due to the unpleasantness that emanated from those arguments, of course it is
your choice, no offense intended.

Peace,

I like this thread, it's a way for people to be thankful the every 'small' blessing they receive.

I thank Allah swt for all the beautiful signs He has put in the world around us. Not only are they beautiful but all of these things are essential resources for us that we have depended upon throughout  the ages.
the flickering flame of a candle, in all the plants and trees that make this world feel so vibrant - which we depend upon for food, building materials for homes, furniture, clothing, oxygen and so much more, in the softly shaped clouds on a blue sky that looks just like it's been painted. For promising to always listen to us about anything we have to say, no matter how insignificant it may seem to others but that really matters to us and for being Most Merciful and providing forgiveness and peace to all those who seek it with sincerity.

Peace hawk99,

I think you are right. I have been involved in meaningless discussions, especially the past couple of days. I should try not to be so easily provoked. But it does not need to go all the way to January for positive posts from me? What about February or March? Except for the fight the past few days I have been quite calm.

I try to focus on my philosophical thinking too though. I made some recent posts about various topics.

Edit: I am sorry about the unpleasantness I caused you. I think I will have to return to my peacefulness. Better for me as well.

God bless you

I thought everyone who shows gratitude to Allah swt for whatever they want is keeping the spirit of this thread? Or is this thread for an exclusive type of thanks to Allah swt?

Strange question, why ask me? Why does my quoted quote mean an exclusive type of thanks? I would've posted the same even if I had the second post after the OP and it wouldn't mean an exclusive kind of thanks?

Peace savage_carrot,

In that case, I may have misunderstood the reason you put that there. I didn't mean to cause offense, just like you found my question strange, I found that phrasing unusual because I thought it went without saying that yours and everyones posts is keeping the spirit of the thread in mind... so I was wondering if there is a type of thanks that this thread is geared towards. i.e. more literal everyday things and items. It's not too difficult to interpret what you put that way. My question really wasn't meant in hostility.

What a lovely thread.

I am grateful for:

-being guided

-being blessed with some sense of logic, rationale, compassion, kindness

-having the blessing of all my senses to near perfection to experience this wonderful world which Allah S.W.T. has created

-the air which acts as a conduit to feed my cells

-sunshine, and rain too

-shelter and food

-birds singing, dolphins swimming

-being guided away from unhealthy and productive people

-the solitude; the loneliness; the uncertain barrenness

-this forum and the select few most wonderful people I have encountered on here. They probably don't know who they are, but I am grateful to Allah for having them in my life, nonetheless

-my Simba

-the love of my life: my beautiful, amazing mother

I am grateful for this wonderful life with all its trials and tribulations; the joy amongst the sorrow, and the peace which accompanies the loneliness. For all this, and more, I am grateful.

Peace es,

That's a little mysterious and intruiging... I wonder who those people are. In terms of myself, you're definitely one of the contributors I missed before. I wondered where you got to! Along with members such as JewishDude and a few others. This place felt different when I first came here when there were some other topics going and other people here, some who have left. Although, it could just be because I was new to this place.

And I know its cliched but you aren't alone... I'm not saying this applies to you, its just something I thought of... but I feel we forget nature, a gift from Allah swt. Sometimes we focus so much on people but what about nature - Allah swt says that all the things we see, they are submitted to Him. They're alive and they're part of us. It's as though that's a very hippy thing to think, but its a fact. We also don't have to go far to know 'nature' is in fact all around us and everything we use and create is from what Allah swt has bestowed upon us originally coming from nature. So even in urban areas we are still connected to and a part of nature. In nature/existence all living things are interdependent and we are all dependent on God swt.

With regards to the thread: I am thankful to Allah swt for showing me that my spirituality does not need to be limited and that it can be much more open, and that it will not change my faith and love for Him.

As for the beautiful woman, I suppose that's me that you're talking about. I don't think I'd agree. I look atrocious in photos. I definitely look much better in person. However, thank you for the compliment!

In  regards to whom I'm referring to. Well, there are a few candidates. I wouldn't want to name them, but I have the privilege of sharing personal communication with them. Of course, some folk are more dear to me than others. It's just such a shame they don't live in my neighbourhood!

Yes, we do forget nature. I think nature is very important and I appreciate it greatly. Hence, listing birds, dolphins and Simba. However, I would like to have children one day and, of course, for that, I require a husband. Insh'Allah, as Allah SWT wills.

EXACTLY!

Crabs are haraam, bro!

Sorry, Hawky. Your post reminded me of an incident when I was at University. This Muslim girl who lived in the same block of apartments as me had one of her many lovers come around to stay, who was a Muslim lawyer. I had never met this chap and after being introduced to me, the first thing he said was, "They're haraam." I was like, "Sorry?" He replied, "They're haraam, lobsters are." I like lobster and had bought lobster for lunch a few days earlier and that is what triggered this enlightening opinion from someone who had just been "haraaming" the night away with this lass. The funny thing was that neither of them saw the irony!

Sorry to worry you, Hawky. You're as sharp as a hawk!  O0

That was hilarious! I had someone tell me lobsters are haram, while I was digging into one...because they mate for life. I won't kid you, I actually paused for a moment in regret, but then my mama told me never to waste food because every particle will be waiting for me on judgement day to complain about my utter disregard for them in life. I went home and looked it up though. Apparently they have harems. Funny thing was, the guy wanted 4 wives all of different nationalities, the south american nationality being essential however.

He could have nearly had it all if he found a Pakistani woman who had American nationality and looked South American. Us Pakistanis can be a diverse bunch anyhow what with the Mughals, Alexander the Great or something like that probably.

Peace,

I am grateful to God for:

1.  Ramadan

O you who believe, fasting is decreed for you, as it was decreed for those before you, that you may attain salvation. (2:183)

     Fasting ? Blessing in Disguise
The religious practices instituted by God, such as fasting, are blessings from God. If we can practice our religious
duties  the    way we are supposed to, we get many benefits. Furthermore, these practices allow us to be more
conscious of God in our lives.

2. Cool summer nights

3.  Suhoor   :eat:

You may eat and drink until the white thread of light becomes distinguishable from the dark thread of night at dawn. 2/187

4.  Modern conveniences.

5.  Iftar     :eat:

Then complete the fasting until sunset 2/187

All Have a Blessed Ramadan!

God bless

Gravity, making me able to walk the earth.
The presence of oxygen in the universe: making me able to breath
The replication process of my bodily cells: keeping me alive even though it means I need to cut my nails and hair from time to time.
...
I'll cut the crap and get to the point...

I can continue this list endlessly, I dont feel like making a summary because what in this reality should we not be thankful for?  If I make a list that ends somewhere, I feel like I have forgotten so many other things.

Can you tell me the story of "losing your friend"?

I'm sorry, I don't think I can tell you the detail, however I started to understand why I lose that person.

To be honest, I think I should be grateful about that, because I realize now that me and that person do not really have agreement for important issues, e.g. I strongly reject the Bible (there's no command in the Qur'an that I should follow the Bible, and in my view, the Bible is not in harmony with the Qur'an), and I don't want to mix the teaching of the Bible with the Qur'an.

There were times when I hoped for something wrong, and Allah usually saved me, even though the rescue process could be hard for me, and at the same time He trained me to be patient and taught me to trust Him. Allah is the Protector. Praise be to Allah.

Peace.

Started to like the South Arabian Alphabet Letters!! ^_^/

I like it too! In old South Arabia, they took as the "Head of the Pantheon" "Attar", they associated the Morning Star with it, as the Chief Star, but this can be taken as symbolism only, they also were fond of the Sun and the Moon, so when Allah says "do not adore the sun and the moon but worship Allah who created them (and controls them)" this was in accordance also with the old South Arabian concept of Attar as the ruler of the sun and the moon.

In fact I am also grateful for technology. It has made my project much easier. To conduct it even as little as 50 years ago would have been a more tedious task.

Be safe

It will be the longest 48 hours in my life but I can wait till Wednesday, assuming you are talking about Wednesday 8-6-2016.
I also like to know why I have to wait till Wednesday  :hmm

Praise be to Allah that I've felt much better after experiencing quite severe allergy a few days ago.

I'm glad that severe itching times seem already over now.

I am grateful for the warm, comfortable bed that I am able to lie down on every night, with no fears or worries until my eyes open again the next morning.

I am grateful for patience, for it teaches us to be humble, and I learn that things are worth the wait. I am grateful for this positivity and calmness over me now. :)

I'm happy that my brother and his wife (my sister in law) have arrived at my parents house, which means that our small family can gather for some/few days during Eid celebration (Eid al-Fitr), insha'Allah.

I don't have female sibling, but praise be to Allah, I have a nice sister in law.

About Eid al-Fitr, I don't celebrate it (because I think that Eid celebration is not mentioned in the Qur'an), but somehow I enjoy the togetherness of the family and the warm interaction that usually happens during the days of Eid...

and also the foods. (http://emoticoner.com/files/emoticons/panda/panda-emoticon-22.gif?1292863509)

Peace,

Why is this off topic, it should be right at the top of on topic!!

Alhamdullilahi rabbil aAlameen.

For all things, I, If God has willed, do my best to be thankfull for. I ineviatably fail, and can never count my blessings, so i am not even going to try, however i will say:

Praise be to He who gave me life, Who gave me a light to walk by, Who brings my soul out of darkness, Who turns my heart back to him again and again, Who has delivered me from the gates of hell so many times, and Who, even after i turned my back again, still He gave me another oppurtunity to turn to Him, Who gives me so much i ask Him for, Who has given me wisdom and understanding, to be able to know Him, and to How that He alone is..

Ar-Rahman

i put my hope in my Lord, and i long that, if and only if He has willed, one day very soon, He will open the gates of heaven to me, and i will be welcomed with 'Peace be upon you this day'. This would be the utmost blessing, and a cause of eternal thanks and praise to God.

Alhamdullilahi Rabbil aAlameen

I am grateful for today. If I am here tomorrow I will be "more" grateful for tomorrow. Everyday I find myself "more" grateful to GOD than the last one.

If I am not here tomorrow( or any day in the future) I will be grateful forever.
Thank you Lord. Praise be to GOD ,Lord of the universe.
Peace.

i m grateful that i have love of God inside me.. which make me feel so Good, but at times i do mistakes , i hope my God will forgive me..

i m grateful that he leaves us option of forgiveness for his creation so that we may correct ourselves.. and to alone we seek help..

Great-full for letting my soul experience the beauty of His signs and to seek more of His signs in this little life of mine.

Him is the Mystery This existence is His blessing where I submit and prostrate  until one day i am exposed to the Majesty.
