Love it. I guess it can be tweaked, but I really like the fiery red and the sharp font. Great job, puts the point across. :sun: ;D :D  :peace:

Methinks she's referring to www.free-minds.org
They've changed the design and it's sweet.

thats what i thought too, but i have never seen freeminds in a different design happen before i joined, but im wondering what red font is she talking about. :hmm
I don't like the "Discover True Islam" on the top of the homepage. It seems an overconfident and sanctimonious thing to say.
Supernaut got it right. I was talking about the colour of the banner. I agree that the message at the top seems too self-righteous. It would have been better to phrase it as an alternative view of Islam, submission, monotheism whatever. I like the new design, and the change in the font (and no, the font isn't red, I know that). I said 'the fiery red and the sharp font, not the fiery red and sharp font. I just felt like I had to say it while exhausted and sleep deprived last night (the typical college student's life)
yeah, thumbs up guys. looks sharp. nice blog and article feature. think we can get a matching theme for the forum?
Peace all,
Thanks for the comments. I want to add my 2 cents and say that nothing has been changed from the old site apart from the look and integration with a content management system. The articles are the same, as well as the slogan.
One benefit in the new system is that every article has a "comment" section under it. So any refutations can be made on the article page itself. All existing members have the ability to post comments/refutations etc. However until the moderators are integrated with the new system a lot of the new features (such as being able to blog and post articles will not be made available). God willing this will be done soon.
Upcoming Features (God willing)
Organic Groups - Enable users to create and manage their own 'groups'. Each group can have subscribers, and maintains a group home page where subscribers communicate amongst themselves. They do so by posting the usual content types: blog, story, articles, etc. A block is shown on the group home page which facilitates these posts. The block also provides summary information about the group. Groups may be selective or not. Selective groups require approval in order to become a member, or even invitation -only groups.

Thanks. In regards to the matching theme. Sounds like a good idea.
Maybe is all I can say. I have no idea how theming works for the forums so I can't give any estimation on how difficult it will be. Also I am currently in final exam week 1 (last exam is scheduled on monday) so things are a little busy.
:peace:
cool, thanks aalmakto,
changing themes is fairly peasy (http://tmdhosting.com/tutorials/smf/smf-theme-change.html).
and the rest (http://www.google.ie/search?hl=en&rlz=1C1GGLS_enIE291&sa=X&oi=spell&resnum=0&ct=result&cd=1&q=how+to+change+the+theme+of+a+smf+forum&spell=1)

Thanks for the links bro :) Yes I am studying right now in between browsing free-minds.
Not all the content is the same. You forgot one of the most important things: the disclaimer for the articles section.

Oh yea thats a huge thing to leave out. Thanks. It should be fixed once the cache clears.
Peace all,

The Groups feature is now online. Users can create groups for whatever appropriate purpose they wish. Layth wanted to allow people to create groups based on Nationality but the feature allows for groups of any kind. So If you see that your country does not have a group feel free to create one yourself.
To Create a group just login to the forums. Then go to http://www.free-minds.org/node/add
There should be a link called "New Group".
Members can join groups and start posting to that group. Email notification should be working so when someone posts the other members should know about it.
If you don't want to receive emails every time someone posts to the group or you wish to turn off the feature completely, the Email notification can be configured by:
1. going to "My account" in the left navigation of the main page.
2. clicking on the notification tab that appears in the main content area.
Please report any issues on this thread. Or PM me
peace all:
can we please put at the bottom of the page also the following shown on top of page:
1) Show unread posts since last visit.
2) Show new replies to your posts.
i hope this is not too much of a burden for the web designer/administrator.
ramon
i have always wanted a "todays posts" option but i'm not sure if its available to implement on simple machines forums. cause sometimes you dont want to reply straight away to a thread but then if you start reading a new thread you have to go looking for it after that. "show todays posts" or "show recent posts" is how it is on vbulletin forums.

Peace bros,
to ramon,
I know it sounds easy, but it would be a huge burden because I suspect it requires hacking the core SMF files (I don't think it can be done as part of "themes" customization.)
to dc2,
Is this what you are talking about?
http://free-minds.org/forum/index.php?action=recent
It can be accessed from the main page by scrolling to the bottom and clicking "View the most recent posts on the forum."
nope but that's handy to know aalmakto. guess it would be more similar to the page that comes up for "show unread posts" except it would list all the recent threads that had had any action in descending order. the links to the threads that you had completely read and had no new posts would be a different color or not in bold but would stay in sequence. when a thread gets a new post, it moves to the top of the list again. that's the way vbulletin forums i use work and i think it's a better system.
