Giggles
------------------
A Poem by. Shirley

It was quiet that one Sunday afternoon.
The clouds rolled by ever so gently,

The breeze wrestled around with the sheets hanging on the clothes line,
The sun beemed down in certain spot that the clouds would allow.

The scent of rain in the air to let you know that a storm is approaching.

Wind chimes whispering sweet sound of content,
The ice melting in a great big pitcher of cold ice tea.

The Sunday funnies blowing across the yard,
The rocking chair creeking back and forth it goes, but no one is in it.

Across the way sits a treehouse,

Tall and old with word of whose been there,
And how much someone is loved carved in the bark.

As the wind picks up,
the birds fly away and then...

A giggle came from inside that treehouse,

As children enjoy telling joke on their peaceful, rainy Sunday afternoon.

Sometimes we like to recreate some of the most peaceful times in our childhood. One of the things I loved the most was when we would try to build a clubhouse. There were never any trees big enough to hold a treehouse around where I lived.

I had a big imagination. I loved the smell of rain and one of the things I loved the most was being with my friends and telling jokes, laugh and giggle in our little homemade clubhouse. There were no lights. It was 5 or so boards to create this place of fun and wonder. I miss those days. I loved when it would rain. We would be in our little shelter and didn't have to go home. It was peaceful and full of happiness even in the worst of times. I hope my kids will have the same great experiences and get to use their imaginations. :jedi: Oh, to be a kid again.

Latifah

Peace,

Never noticed this poetrytopic. I would also like to share a poem. I was 17 or 18 at the time I wrote the poem. It brought a smile to my face. I wrote it when I fell in love with a guy at that time. Ah sweet memories!   8)

That Day

I saw him across the crowded room
Since then my eyes didn't loose him out of sight
Amazed by so much beauty and his way of talking
I was lost that heavenly night
It was like Cupid shot his arrow
I saw the coldhearted world in so many warm colors
Colors around me like a rainbow
He must have felt that I was watching him
Cause he turned his head my way and our eyes met
I felt caught and so embarrassing
But still I refused to turn my head away
Instead I looked him deep in his eyes
I don't know what came over me that day
I don't regret a thing
Cause since that day I'm living happily ever after...
with him.

here is an original poem of mine

Confusion of illusion
deception undefined
whispers of consciousness
echo through dungeons
twisting, turning
slowly dying
reviving
a new cell.

crackling sounds of eggshells...

HATCHING...

newly formed visions of hope

Emerging into LIFE..

opening eyes amongst

cloudy rays of a new world

unrecognizable, yet so familiar..

salam alaykum wr wb

here is an original poem of mine

                                 "Sunnis"

                          ..with eyes closed
                            I see the beauty....

                             You are trapped...
                              ..inside your hate...
                            ....you are surrounded
                                by your anger
                                Dead weight
                                Drowning clarity

                                shedding disparity
                                    I ARISE..
                                you COMPROMISE

                                 Tar covered body
                                  feathered in pain
                                  In your reality,
                                I can no longer remain

                                  I had an epihphany
                                 The truth I can see

                                  I am no longer
                                covered by thee...

                                   still echoes
                              whirling in thought
like the aroma of a newly picked rose
                            on a still crisp morning

I will no longer submit to your ideology
I submit only to The Lord of all the Worlds...

                            Moving ever so slowly
                                Earth shatters
                                Nothing matters
                             without God's Love
                           Surrounding my heart
                          glowing with warmth

Peace, :)

These are poems that I made for someone in the past.
They are based on the styles from Shakespeare's and Marlowe's poems, but the words are original.
Oh yeah except that one Quranic verse which you will find in one of the poems :D.

Pure Love

Stay with me and live in peace
Let’s make our love a beautiful piece
I will do anything to make you mine
So day and night I can see you shine

I may not be able to give you a thousand skies
For my heart will never tell a thousand lies
The sure thing I can offer you is my pure love
The greatest blessing for mankind from above

It promises a thousand times more than the city of gold
A splendid tale of the people of old
By the fig and the olive trees
With all my heart I promise you these

Day and night I shall make you smile
Forgetting hardship of life for a little while
Everything I do is just for you
Nothing but you I shall pursue

We shall lay free by the blue lake
Sharing wonderful love with nothing to fake
The bright sun sends its ray full of grace
Reflecting on the clear water your radiant face

Please be my love before it’s too late
So I can be your faithful mate
If my promise gives you solace
Then stay with me and live in peace

Beautiful Night

Here we are in the darkness of night
Sharing love under the gleaming stars in the sky
With the moon above spreading its light
Your beautiful face blushing shy
I dare not to ask why
For you are the meaning of my life
I can see your bright eyes look upon the high sky
Between us there will be no strife
For our love is like morning flowers growing rife
The whispering owl is the witness of this sweet love
The cure of all pains in my life
And all the miseries I try to shove
The moon and the stars lie on one layer
Tonight, you and I belong together

These hard time are here and everywhere where you go
hard times will drive you from door to door

And the people are driftin' from door to door
But they can't find no heaven, I don't care where they go

Well, you hear me singin' this old lonesome song
These hard times can last us so very long

And you say you had money, you better be sure
'Cause these hard times will drive you from door to door

If I ever get off this killin' floor
I'll never get down this low no more

im gonna Sing this song and I ain't gonna sing no more
cause my time is precious and im going to go

mr. humble

salaam, all,

here is a nice poem by Rumi, the sufi mystic,

A Stone I died

~

A stone I died and rose again a plant;
A plant I died and rose an animal;
I died an animal and was born a man.
Why should I fear? What have I lost by death?

http://www.poetseers.org/the_poetseers/rumis_poetry/a_stone_i_died

hmm, it appears to me that rumi supported reincarnation. he wrote very other nice poems such as...

I Was Dead

i was dead
i came alive
i was tears
i became laughter

all because of love
when it arrived
my temporal life
from then on
changed to eternal

love said to me
you are not
crazy enough
you don't
fit this house

i went and
became crazy
crazy enough
to be in chains

love said
you are not
intoxicated enough
you don't
fit the group

i went and
got drunk
drunk enough
to overflow
with light-headedness

love said
you are still
too clever
filled with
imagination and skepticism

i went and
became gullible
and in fright
pulled away
from it all

love said
you are a candle
attracting everyone
gathering every one
around you

i am no more
a candle spreading light
i gather no more crowds
and like smoke
i am all scattered now

love said
you are a teacher
you are a head
and for everyone
you are a leader

i am no more
not a teacher
not a leader
just a servant
to your wishes

love said
you already have
your own wings
i will not give you
more feathers

and then my heart
pulled itself apart
and filled to the brim
with a new light
overflowed with fresh life

now even the heavens
are thankful that
because of love
i have become
the giver of light

The Essence of All Sciences:

If you know the value of every article of
merchandise,
but you don't know the value of your own soul,
it will all have been pointless.
You've come to know the fortunate
and the inauspicious stars,
but you don't know whether you yourself
are fortunate or unlucky.
This, this is the essence of all sciences -
that you should know who you will be
when the Day of Reckoning arrives.

-- Rumi (Mathnawi III, 2652-54)
