Salaam 'Alaikum!

There is no SECT in Islam. Every sect claims that there sect is right based on a HADITH about 73 sects out of which only 1 will go to paradise. So that means there must be ONLY 1 SECT according to this hadith that will go to paradise.

So we find people making sects and claiming they are the SAVED SECTS. We have all types of sects today Sunni/Shia/Ahmediyyah/Quranyoon/Quranist etc. and list continues forever lol.

Anyway, so in my humble opinion I think the hadith of 73 sects and 1 going to paradise clearly contradicts the Quran which says you shouldn't make SECT at all!!

QURAN PROHIBITING ALL KINDS OF SECTS:-

And hold firmly to the rope of Allah all together and do not become divided. [Surah Al Imraan AYAH 103]

Verily, those who divide their religion and break up into sects, you have no concern in them in the least. Their affair is only with Allah, Who then will tell them what they used to do. [Surah Al Anam AYAH 169]

Of those who split up their religion, and became sects, each sect rejoicing in that which is with it. [Surah Al Rum AYAH 32]

So even 1 SECT and calling it a SAVED sect is not from QURAN. Quran is very clear that you cannot make sects at all!

If you see, every sects are claiming to be the 1 saved sect and denouncing the others. It never ends.!!

Some people claims, BUT, today everyone says they are MUSLIM so we must give a NAME.... Whichever sectarian people you talk to, you will get the same reply. So even in this there is no ending....!

If you claim that you must give a name, you are still going against the Quran...

And who is better in speech than one who invites to Allah and does righteousness and says, "Indeed, I am of the Muslims."
[Surah Fussilat AYAH 33]

Who Allah is saying you are a better in speech if you tell that "I am of the Muslims" not Sunni/Shia/Ahmediyyah/Quranist etc...!

Today you will find there are hundreds of SECT and whichever sect you join they have thousands of books written by their scholars which is impossible to finish  :hypno:

So, if we claim that we follow God and His message, then we must NOT make any sort of SECTS!

PEACE!  :peace:

That's very right. Allah prohibits all sects. The hadith you mentioned about 72 sects should have been fabricated as it gives justification to every sectarian to cling to his/her sect thinking his/her sect is the rightly guided one. The link to above post further reviews all Ayas prohibiting Muslims to divide themselves in sects.

Sectarian beginns when you distinguish between yourself and others and thats not what the succesor of muhammad did only after they attacked them it was obvious .Actually this civilwar who started with the sectarian party has never ended if you look in the middleeast.

Christianity started as a sect within Judaism.
Islam started as a sect within Judeo-Christians group as well.

The group forming within human is a continuing evolutionary process.
It is based on idea / ideology (religion is merely a form of ideology) which forms a shared identity.
Other than religion, the idea / ideology can also took the form of nationality, ethnicity or merely a shared short term goal.

That's the nature of human.... and of course as God has designed them to be. The real God that is.

Hoping that human didn't act like the above (Such as there is no sect in religion x) is a futile hope because it's not based on reality, it's not based on what God has designed human to be.

What human need to learn is how to work with those differences by accepting that there were, are and always will be differences and try to avoid brutal conflict / killing of each others.

The group formation is very dynamic and can quickly change over time due to different circumstances and (shared) goal. The 'enemies' / 'rivals' of today can be 'allies' / 'partner' of tomorrow.

Example:
The Brits and the french were enemies fighting brutal war over the span of 100 years. And become close friend, allies and partner in a very short time due to common threat from Germany.
(Note: Brits, French, Germany are all a sub-group/sect of once shared identity of Ancient Germanic tribes named Anglo/Saxon, Franks, Germanic tribes united in their effort to rebel against Roman empire colonialism, over time they evolve differently the language evolve differently, the culture/tradition evolve differently, but traceability can still clearly be seen)

The cohesiveness of the group named "The Brits" is shaken due to disagreement whether to stay in EU or leave. The shared identity of "The Brits" might be dissolved to form a sub-group (a.k.a sect) over shared idea of Pro-EU and Anti-EU.

And millions of other example across the globe throughout the history..
