- Is 33:59 talking about 'lengthening garments' so as to be recognized, or about drawing a cloak around ones self?.

I thought all arabs wore long garments or is the long garment a modern inventiongoing back only 1000 years and if arabs always wore long garments then the verse could not be talking about the lenght of garment but about some thing else.

peace bro,
If you give me the specific word, I'll look it up in Lane if that might help.

Please remember I dont understand Arabic. I think the following is correct:
AALAYHINNA
An-Nisa (The Women)> [4:15]
Yusuf (Joseph)> [12:31]
Al-Nour (The Light)> [24:60]
Al-Ahzab (The Confederates)> [33:49][33:59][33:55]
At-Talaq (The Divorce) > [65:6]

From Lane:
was/became high/lofty/elevated, become over/upon/across it, overlay/overspread, rise above in height, overcome/subdue, to exalt/magnify oneself, bulky/tall, great in respect of estimation/rank/dignity/nobility, addition over/above, put down
This entry was rather long for some reason.
