Islamic theology?

Salam,

I was a big fan of Christian and Jewish theology and mysticism before returning to the Quran and decision to work on following the five pillars.  I've had a strong love/hate relationship with theology and the sages. Love because they can be excellent writers and profound thinkers with deep piety and are inspiring to read. Hate because I would often be led into greater confusion then before or I would find God didn't fit in the nicely organized box I made for Him.

The Quran says that Allah has no partners and that no man can add to or distort His message adding to it from their own understanding, claiming it being the words of Allah. Islam is about receiving the clear message and submitting to Allah directly. This is 100% true and is an amazing and simple relief to my wearied soul. But what about theology? I haven't finished the Quran yet.  I've read some poems of Rumi and I'm sure I would love the Sufis. I'm sure once I finish the Quran my hunger for theology will return.  There are all sorts of commentaries and hadiths and such. I'm sure Islam has its share of theological schools and famous scholars. But how is that not adding to the Quran? How is it different from the other faiths? Where is theology in Islam helpful and where does it lead to idolatry?

Thanks -Fred

First let me put this definition :

Theology is the critical study of the nature of the divine. It is taught as an academic discipline, typically in universities, seminaries and schools of divinity. Augustine of Hippo defined the Latin equivalent, theologia, as "reasoning or discussion concerning the Deity"; Richard Hooker defined "theology" in English as "the science of things divine". The term can, however, be used for a variety of different disciplines or fields of study.

For me "Islamic theology"is the work/explanations/reasoning...of humans. It is another source of information like all other human sources. It needs to  be critically analysed by the criterion which is the primary source-Qoran- Anything that contradicts or is not in line with the sayings of Qoran is to be thrown away.

In terms of GOD s deen ,no other source should be followed,GOD is clear that "only His words" must be followed as far as salvation/our redemption is concerned. If we follow any other source and go against GOD s word ,we are following other than GOD i.e Shirk.

Qoran advises to "take the best " of any information we find out there, providing there is no contradiction/breaking of GOD s instructions and commands
My understanding.
GOD bless you.
Peace

Recently, I was looking for a new place to gamble online and accidentally found https://ak8aud.casino/, where the ak8aud brand immediately caught my attention. This casino impressed me with its wide offer of slot machines, table games, and card games. The appeal of the site is enhanced by their generous bonuses for new players and regular promotions for regular visitors.
