Just finished watching "South of the Border" - Oliver Stone's documentary on the change taking place in South America. Certainly propagand-ish but if the truth is always somewhere in the middle of extreme views, then this one is worth the time. I found it very inspiring and promising.

It's a sad day.
The "Food Safety Modernization Act" has passed here in the US - it is only a matter of time before Monsanto's seed patents become global and ALL FOOD (including meat from animals) will be genetically modified by, harvested by, and distributed by Monsanto and the likes. No more growing your own food, buying from organic farmers, or even harvesting your own seeds.

Here's a link to understanding the bill:

Peace David K, all,

The article grossly oversimplifies and overgeneralizes. It is completely unreferenced, unchecked, and sounds like the rantings of a paranoid hippie. No offense, but to take this seriously is silly.
This sentence is a microcosm:
Quote"mainstream medicine" has taken a nation that was once relatively healthy and turned it into a disease dystopia where patients are actually taught that nutrition doesn't work and that they must submit to patented chemicals in order to be "normal" or healthy.

First, the bigger and more potent factor in the less-than-healthy state of Americans has very little to do with "mainstream medicine" and much to do with consumption of fatty, sugary, and chemical-loaded foods and fast foods that lack nutritional value. Coupled with less and less physical activity over the past few decades and you have a recipe for disaster.

Second, there is not a sane doctor on the planet that would say something as ignorant as "nutrition doesn't work".

And third, I've never heard of anyone say people need to submit to chemicals in order to be normal or healthy. Where did that come from?

And that's just one sentence.

I agree with magnus:
Evidence based medicine is a great triumph.

By no means do I give the pharmaceutical companies a badge of honor and integrity, but there is a middle ground - the one where prevention through nutrition and exercise and healthy habits limits our needs for "mainstream medicine" - but should we break a bone, get an infection, experience kidney failure, etc., there's no fruit, vegetable, herb, or exercise on the planet that will get you out of it - that's where "mainstream medicine" comes into play.

Peace,

Awesome Nadia! Please do keep me posted, here or in private.

nsws, yes, I made a dream board - also called a vision board. The surprising thing I found was that the process filtered out so many things I thought I wanted, but when it came down to it, I set my standard so high that very few things revealed themselves to be important to me - I mean this was going to be what I was asking God for, it had be worth it.

The other thing I started doing is taking Jack Canfield's advice and starting my bucket list: 101 things I want to do or see before I die. That was an awesome experience too. I keep it in my phone so I can add to it whenever some new idea pops up.

I highly recommend Jack Canfield's books. He's really taken the Law of Attraction concept and formatted it to fit today's personality. I spent a lot of time trying to find authors who've done this with clarity and Canfield is the best imo. A lot of the original work (from the Secret) is based on Napolean Hill's writing. So, Canfield reaches back and repackages some of those older ideas that are still perfectly relevant. He's also borrowed from James Alan who was actually Hill's mentor. Alan's entire corpus is available online - just google him.

Wakas, we're in the final phase of securing our rights prior to public display so as soon as that's ironed out, I'll post a link.

Peace,
Tay

Peace Caveman, Nadia,

Thanks for the kindness.

Nadia, I think you may just be getting hung up on it for whatever reason. It's really not even necessary. Establish your own recipe. The most important steps are 1, 4, and 7. The most important of these is obviously defining what you want. It has to be crystallized. Imagine someone gave you the pieces to a jigsaw puzzle without a picture. Then they gave you a picture. Then the next day they gave you a different picture, and so on, and so on. That's what we end up doing when we don't have crystallized visions for ourselves. God cannot deliver when we keep changing our minds or sabotaging our desires.

So whatever it is that you want, just visualize already having it. The more detail you can produce, the more feeling it will induce, and that's when the magic happens. Play out the perfect day in your mind - and include EVERY detail - the bed you wake up in, the slippers you put on, the bathroom you enter, the person(s) you say good morning to, the breakfast you have, the clothes you put on, etc. - go through the entire day in your mind and see what you want to see. You'll begin to align your mind with your soul and the harmony resulting makes you feel lighter and exuberant. Don't allow the mind to interfere with "what-if's" or guilt or anything negative. And don't let anyone know what you're doing until you've gained some momentum. It's a fragile process because we're not used it.

We are used to being the victims of circumstance, the mind relishes in that, and always wants to fall back on it. It's easier to say life happened to me rather than "I created my life" - when, in reality, the latter is the truth. But, as I stated, once you accept accountability for your life, it is extremely empowering and liberating, because you've now regained control. And as the director of your own life, you put the onus on yourself to produce laser-focus on what you really want.

Success is inevitable. It is the law. The only thing standing in your way is the old you.

Off-Topic / The Law of Attraction Revisited
November 07, 2010, 01:49:12 AM
Peace,

So, a while back I was kind of in a rut - just feeling out of balance, inharmonious, and generally not in line with what I wanted for myself. I remembered "The Secret" and located it and watched it. Then I watched it again, and again, and one more time. And I wanted to believe. First, because it just sounds awesome - makes me feel like I could be some kind of Jedi Master or something. But what really made it plausible was the sincerity of the speakers. I thought they either have to be some of Hollywood's best kept secrets (no pun intended) - or, they were all being truthful.

But could it be so simple? Just think money and alakazam: check in the mail!

So, in watching it over and over, I realized that it was just a really well sequenced program. That's not to say it lacked substance - but the practical application of the substance was difficult to extract. The movie itself was an exercise in getting really excited about something, having it snowball, and then leaving it as if you can conquer the world - except you're left naked and unarmed with only visions of swords and valor. Should be required viewing for marketing majors.

However, there was a point when the "secret" recipe was revealed. It was about halfway through, Jack Canfield was speaking and he said the following:

1. Decide what you want
2. Believe you can have it
3. Believe you deserve it, that it?s possible for you
4. Close your eyes for several minutes everyday and visualize already having what you want and feeling the feelings of already having it
5. Come out of that, and focus on what you?re grateful for already
6. And then go into your day and release it into the universe
7. And trust that the universe with deal with how to manifest it.

For me, I just substituted the word "universe" with God.

Then, I got to work. It started out with me sitting at my computer, kicking back in my chair and closing my eyes, and going through the 7 steps. And although I've always known I want to be successful in music production, I had never clearly defined EXACTLY what I wanted. So step 1 became much longer than simply saying "I want to be a successful music producer". I figured, and this happened naturally, that if I was going to ask God for something, I should be specific. So with the visualizing of my musical success in the present tense (tying steps 1 through 4 together here), I was also visualizing how that success would benefit me, my immediate family, my friends, my health, my spiritual well-being, and also how that would then manifest itself to even greater heights - satisfying my desire to contribute to the spiritual well-being of humanity at large. I was seeing this, in my mind's eye, and I was filling up with the joy of experiencing it all at once.

And that was it. I found my recipe. I would search for opportunities throughout the day to have quiet time to be able to practice this new mantra. And every time, when I gave it time, I would feel the same thing, the same joy. I used to begrudgingly walk my dog, now I couldn't wait - it was actually my best time to visualize. And this went on for a few weeks. I began to really feel a difference in my self, in my awareness, in my attitude and my outlook. I was now expecting my successes, not hoping, or praying. I was looking for the signs, the help, the guidance, the people that would lead the way and deliver.

The outcome:
Well, it's still a work in progress and will be until the day I die. But here it is:
My business was draining me so it fizzled to a halt and forced me to change careers. The new career revealed itself in the most unlikely place and pays me more money than my business ever did, and I work 1/3 the hours. But the new gig required a reliable car and I was strapped for cash. I spent 3 days scouring craigslist and then went to visit my brother one night and the car I wanted and needed was actually sitting in his driveway - for sale from a friend of his for the exact budget I had in mind.

So the new job gave me more time to work on music, allowing me to write like I've never written before. Now I'm hooked up with an established artist and we are working on our second track. The music is so good I am not even worried about the success - it's amazing and just the tip of the iceberg. The creative juice that is flowing through me right now feels like it's being channeled from outer space and I'm just the receiver.

On top of that, all my bills just kind of worked themselves out -  a little forgiving here and there, some restructuring with minimal effort, and vwalla, I'm back in the saddle again.

My teeth were in bad shape, and I couldn't afford to get them fixed. I put out an ad online to barter my remodeling services and am now 3/4 way through my treatment from an awesome dentist and I haven't had to spend a penny.

I also inadvertently lost 20 pounds without joining the gym or going on a diet.

In summary, the Law of Attraction is as real as the law of gravity. What I've realized is that it's not a magic spell you conjure up to manifest cash. It's about understanding that everything you have and you are in your life is the direct result of your thoughts and feelings. Nothing is accidental - except accidents.
When you take accountability for this, understand that it's you who made you, it becomes empowering in the sense that you realize you have the control. Thus, the things you want in your life are not being held from you, you just haven't really asked for them. And when you ask for them, and you visualize having them in the present tense, what you're doing is tuning up your mind to be successful and to recognize the success symbols that were probably always there to begin with. Once you activate this, it is amazing how many resources exist that you never knew you had.

And when people see you acting passionately, chasing what really matters to you, they can't help but help - because deep down that's what they want to be doing too.

So that's my little diatribe - please share your own experiences, inexperiences, comments, or questions.

Peace,
Tay

Peace,

QuoteWere Adam and Eve the first human beings?

Sort of. Eve is not mentioned in the qur'an. Adam is the name given to represent the first generation of humans - evolved recipients of God's gift of self-awareness and language. The parable of the Adam story is the common thread of all mankind: the battle between ego and spirituality.
