in my opinion the verse "O you who have believed," is referring to previous poeple before Islam, ie. it is referring to Christain and Jew who believe/followers of  in Esa and Musa.

So the verse is addressing them. Please check all ayats with this verse as starting. I think it is addressing them.

what if 9:36 goes

9:36 The count:  the months with God is twelve months; in the book of God; the day; He created the heavens and the earth; four of them are restricted (inviolable) ......

"four of them are referring" to these four (RED)

We are assuming it is referrring to months but what if it is referring to all four?

How sure are we that 9:36 is referring to months?

It could also refers to days? or heavan n earth? or referring to all of them?

What does Hurumun means in this context?

Thanks all

Thank you for the reply.

I guess Arabic is quite difficult for non-arabic speaking people, even with Corpus Quran translation.

Thanks Tlihawa for the reply,

As in 11:114, wouldn't it be mandatory fro the Prophet and optional for everyone else?

The reason I'm asking is that I noticed that most of the timed salat ayats are directed to second person singular, ie towards the Prophet.
So is the ayat directed towards the Prophet applicable to everyone?
Thanks

General Issues / Questions / Quranic Word

Salam all,

In The Quran and in Arabic language, often there is a singular "you" and a plural "you".

1. Can you please elobrate the difference usage of the singular and plural?

2. In the Quran are there also ayat that is directed towards a certain groups/ individual and nobody else?

3. So if the ayat is directed towards The Prophet is it also applicable to everybody?

Thank you.

Salam CB and all,

To answer my own question, this is what i found on the astronomy page:

"Is the Moon always visible during winter on the North Pole?
At the North Pole during summer when there is permanent daylight, does the Moon rise and set, and if not, does that mean that during winter with no sunrise the Moon is always up?

The Moon does rise and and set during both summer and winter on the North Pole (or South Pole). The exact movement is complicated, but can be understood the combination of two separate movements:

1) Rotation of the Earth on its axis, which results in movements that change over the course of one day.

2) Orbit of the Moon around the earth, which results in movements that change over the course of one lunar month (about 29 days).

While the Moon does rise during the summer at the North Pole, since the Sun is always up, you generally can't see it, so I'll focus on the movement of the Moon during the winter.

The daily movement from Earth's rotation causes the Moon to circle once around the sky. If you spent the entire day staring at it, you'd have to turn around exactly once. This movement is also the same that the Sun makes during the summer. To give you a better idea of how this looks, here is a video showing how the Sun moves in the sky at the North Pole: Arctic Midnight Sun

The second movement caused by the Moon's orbit around the Earth is analogous to the movement of the Sun over the course of a year only it repeats over the course of a lunar month. Near the new Moon phase, the Moon is near the Sun and therefore never rises during the winter. As the Moon approaches full, it will start to pop up above the horizon. Eventually near the full Moon phase it will be high enough in the sky to stay up all day and circle like the Sun in the video above. The elevation of the circle will rise as the Moon becomes completely full and then start to decrease until it begins to dip below the horizon. Eventually the Moon will stop rising at all as it gets close enough to the new phase. The cycle then repeats."

But generally if you add weather and cloud cover I think it is generally quite difficult to see the moon during this time?.

Salam CB and all,

Just want to ask you whether you can sight the moon during these summer months or winter nights?

Is it possible to see the moon during these times?

Thank you.

My  questions:

1-When was the prophet given the command to "Aquimi The Salat"?
2-Did he know the details  of "the Salat"?
3- What,how and how many ?
4- Was "The Salat" done/existed" before  the prophet?
5- Can any research/es of this be found and what evidence do they contain?
...And so on to get to the truth of "The Salat".

This where I am spending my time trying to unravel, up to now I am here:

!Given its-The Salat- importance in Muslim worship, it follows
that the origins of salāt should be widely researched in the modern, secular study of Islam. This, however, is not the case. Relatively little has been published on the subject. Most of the detailed history comes from hadith narrations and biased documents that have no concrete evidence.

There are numerus thesis that always end in disappointment for me . The further they go ,the less evidence on finds. like for example-And this is just one of many -:
https://www.almuslih.org/Library/Hienz,%20J%20-%20The%20Origins.pdf

Perhaps the common theme is that Jews, Zoroastrians, Christians also had "The Salat" in some form or other...

Qoran, for a very good reason, remains the solid source that can highlight the inconstancies of  any research.. However , Qoran can also add the "test" factor that GOD intended  in it to sort out the true convictions and motives of GOD s servants.

While one should never give up the search for their"truth", one needs to trust in GOD Alone and see where Qoran takes them with this subject.
Each can only answer individually for their sincerity towards and understanding of GOD s instructions in the message.

For me the "sirat Al Mustaqueem"-straight path - of leading one s life comes first .One should be honest with themselves and only do what they understand best for themselves. Differences in understanding are the norm and GOD is the sole judge .
Why did GOD not clear everything up for everyone to clearly see is obvious FOR THIS LIFE AS HUMANS- for the test-..
What do you make of how, what and when of"The Salat " according to Qoran"?
That is what you should do.
GOD bless you all.
Peace

Salam Good Logic,

You have ask several very pertinent questions that I feel and agreed that it is worth asking and discussing further.

Can you open up a new thread on these questions and issues.

Thank you.
