Quote from: "Natu"And, what do you think of Raheem Shah's Urdu Stuff?

For example, his remake of "Awargi" in album "Saba Ru"?

salam Natu .
havent listened to awargi . i listened to the song "sabaru"  once only . still i think sabaru is one of raheem shah's finest . i also liked raheem shah's "jhoola" or "maa" (whats the actual name?) .

Saladin - is it true that the mullahs grabbed Sajjad Ali and chopped his hair off coz he grew it long like a rock star? - this is something I've heard.

huh ?!!! :? i never heard that before. but my friend once told me that sajjad ali's song "chief saab" was initially named "peer saab"(the nick name of Altaf Hussain , political party MQM leader) , but then the the devotees of Peer Saab threatened him and forced him to change the name of his song to "chief saab".

MQM is strong here in karachi . u can see "MQM", "altaf bhai" ,"G A altaf" written on walls wherever u go .

I think the renaing of songs in Pakistan is pretty common now.

Tak abrar-ul-haq fo example, th biggest hit in Pakistan something like a year ago was "Nach Panjaban" - and the mullahs were extremely unhappy and had it such that abrar had to renam it to "Nach Majajan".

What is a Majajan anyway? - I stil haven't been able to work it out!

Personally, I dont see how a name can be muslim, so I don't know what they're problem is with that, but if its a hindu name, well, I guess they're just a bit more fashionable aren't they?

Have you seen the video for preeto? V funny - song not too bad either.

Hello Natu,

I don't understand what they're saying in rap music, its like a foreign language to me - I think Eminem is a bit easier to understand, but to be honest, in my opinion, we all have enough fuss in our own lives, so I wouldn't bother listening to music to see what someone else is bangingon about. And yes, Black Eyed Peas did quite well with where is the love, I liked the message, but I thought it parts their lyrics were being written in a rush.

Nural did try his best in getting me to like rap. I have sampled all the rappers Nural suggested. But it did not appeal to me. Though Black Eyed Peas was one of the better rap artists I thought.

From my reliable sources I have it that he does - apparently he is the one who has made the new background music for BBC news, (I'm not sure about that though, and yes he does work for the BBC. When you do check out his music, you will find that he has instrumental music on its own, he has instrumental music with heavy bass, and he also has music with his voice. I must say that I didn't reallt like his voice with the music when I began, but now I think it works with the mood quite well. Listen to the title track of the furious angels album, and watch carefully how his anger and frustration grows without you realising - this man is a genius. Thats all I have to say. Hope you enjoy the experience as much as I do.

I have sampled the "Furious Angels" Album on the BBC music website and I liked it! :-) I just bought the Album too! This man Dougan is indeed very good. The music has passion, energy, drama and melody! I read his biography. He used 80 piece orchestra for his "Furious Angels" album and that is something!!! :-) You have a execellent ear for music Natu! I going listen to it all this week and decide which tracks I like best!

As for Micheal Jackson - After the Thriller Album he lost the appeal for me. I think Thriller was the best thing he ever did...

adnan sami
nusrat fateh ali khan

I like Adnan Sami melodies - the ones that I have listened to so far. But Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan is execellent as a vocalist. I love his songs of devotions...my favourite muscian from the Indian Subcontinent is A R Rahman...

Quote from: "LoteTree"Anyone into David Bowie? Sting? REM?
Sting fan here! 8)  And Sade too, although she hasn't done something in a while, not that it matters, she's timeless. :D

Another Sting fan? Great :-) What did you make of P Diddy's rendering of Sting's "Roxanne" and "Every Breath You Take"? I thought Every Breath You Take rendering was quite good...
