Salaam,

I am totally new to this board and I really appreciate the way how a lot of people on this board are approaching Islam. I recognize in it a general tendency towards problematizing traditional and charismatic interpretative authority regarding the religious sources (mainly the Quran). At the same time I see that the emphasize is placed on rational interpretative authority, which I find to be a good thing.

The reason I am here is to openly reflect on thoughts regarding the implications of this shift.

By the way, is there anyone out here who's from Holland? It would be great to connect!

Ah, thats good to know.

By the way, do you know if there exists a thread which contains a list of good readings?
If not, i would like to open a thread (hopefully a sticky one) with the title "what are you reading right know?".
Im sure the members will have some good recommendations. What do you think?

Salam alaikoem,

I am from Holland  :yay:
[2.255] Allah is He besides Whom there is no god, the Everliving, the Self-subsisting by Whom all subsist; slumber does not overtake Him nor sleep; whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in the earth is His; who is he that can intercede with Him but by His permission? He knows what is before them and what is behind them, and they cannot comprehend anything out of His knowledge except what He pleases, His knowledge extends over the heavens and the earth, and the preservation of them both tires Him not, and He is the Most High, the Great.
