War In The Qur'an

"And kill them wherever you find them..." (Quran 2:191)

The above part of a verse has been duplicated in countless sites and many publications to be used as a testimony for the 'violence' and cruelty that is encouraged by the words of the Quran...

In this article, we will dispel the myths surrounding warfare in the Quran and show exactly 'what' the GOD of Submission (Islam) teaches.

1. Fighting is only allowed against Aggression or Persecution.

"You may fight in the cause of GOD those who fight you, but do not aggress. GOD does not love the aggressors. (2:190)

Why Do Muslims Lose?

The rapid collapse of the Taliban regime in 2001 and the advancement of the Northern Alliance was very much predicted by all military and strategic analysts. The constant US bombing pounded whatever military the Taliban had and the physiological warfare had most of their troops ready to defect the first chance they got.

While a 21st century army defeating the 19th (or 20th) century army may have been as ‘clear as day’ to many people, it came as an utter ‘shock’ to most religious Muslims who could not understand how the GOD that they believe and worship could abandon His people!

The Taliban were strict Sunni Muslims by the very definition of the word…they prayed the obligatory 5-times a day and prayed the additional ‘extra credit’ prayers as well…they grew their beards in emulation of the beloved prophet… they dressed in the traditional dress of the 6th century Arabs using turbans and long clothing…they forbade television and cinema which cause evil & vice…

Did Abraham Tell a Lie?

- Ibrahim broke the Idols and then lied about it, how true is this concept?

- He placed the axe on the shoulder of the big idol to shift accountability, right?

- Also, he gave false evidence to the priests, right?

- Then he blamed the chief idol, you agree?

- He recognized the idols - they can work, think, act and quarrel, right?

- Ibrahim is such a dishonest prophet! Right?

Lets find out the truth!

Is Alcohol Forbidden in Islam?

In many discussions I have witnessed regarding the subject of alcohol, the conclusion predominantly is that it has been `forbidden` or that it is `off-limits` regardless if the person debating is a follower of the Hadiths or is researching based on the laws of the Quran only.

This short article will attempt to put an end to the questions and debates on this issue by analyzing the straightforward verses relating to alcohol in the Quran:

"O you who believe, do not approach the Salat while you are intoxicated, until you know what you are saying. Nor if you have had intercourse, unless travelling, until you bathe. And if you are ill, or traveling, or one of you has excreted feces, or you had sexual contact with the women, and could not find water, then you shall select from the clean soil; you shall wipe your faces and hands. God is Pardoning, Forgiving." (4:43)

Pilgrimage - The Lost Legacy of Abraham

“The first Sanctuary established for the people is the one in Bakk’a, blessed, and a guidance for the worlds. In it are clear signs: the situation of Abraham. And whoever enters it will be secure. And God is owed from mankind to make Pilgrimage to the sanctuary, whoever can make a path to it. And whoever rejects, then God has no need of the worlds.” (Quran 3:96-97)

Every year we see millions of Pilgrims heading towards Mecca for the annual “Pilgrimage/Hajj”. The Pilgrimage takes place in the Arabic month of “Zul Hujja” and lasts for a period of 3 days in which the Pilgrims perform a number of rites, of which is being dressed in a white cloth “Ihraam”, circling the Kaab’a several times, running between the two stones of the “Safa” & “Marwa”, and throwing the pebbles at the devil.

This article will examine the subject of Pilgrimage using the Quran to try and re-create its details in full.

Are Women to be Beaten?

In some parts of the Middle East and other areas of the Muslim world, a woman may be beaten severely by her husband or male relatives for something as ridiculous as not having dinner prepared on time. It is a common theme amongst some male Muslims to beat their women whenever they think it is deserved and they can rest assured that the entire Islamic Scholars will be right behind them for support.

Although this may sound bizarre, the Muslim Scholars have told people that God has ordained in His holy book that women may be beaten if their male counter-part is not pleased with them. The verse that Muslims claim gives a green light to commit violence against their women-folk is the following:

Decriptions of Heaven

There is nothing more beautiful than Heaven or talking about it...We depart with it from the hell of this world which we live in.

Most translators understand the verses which talk about the pleasures, luxury and joy of heaven in an 'Earthly' meaning. It is palm trees, and grapes and fruits and pomegranate and cold springs bursting with pearly waters, and rivers from milk, and rivers from honey, and rivers from wine and virgin women of heaven...

However, the Quran clarifies this 'limited' understanding for us. The Lord GOD tells us: 'What is mentioned of heaven is nothing but an EXAMPLE and not a reality'.

"The example of Paradise that is promised for the righteous is this: it has rivers of unpolluted water, and rivers of fresh milk, and rivers of wine-delicious for the drinkers and rivers of strained honey..." (47:15)

Obey God & Obey the Messenger

In confronting the Sunni and Shia sectarians who claim to be affiliated with God’s great system of submission “Islam,” the topic that most comes up is the one about “obeying God and obeying the messenger.”

While the sects reluctantly acknowledge that the Quran is fully detailed and complete as God has said it is (see 6:114-115, 11:1, 16:89), they quickly point to the many verses in the Quran which speak of “obeying God and obeying the messenger” and point out that such verses clearly mean there are two sources of information to be followed: “Obey God” meaning the Quran, and “Obey the Messenger” meaning the Hadith.

“O you who believe, obey God and His messenger, and do not turn away from him while you have heard.” (8:20)

“Say: ‘Obey God and the messenger.’ But if they turn away, then God does not like the rejecters.” (3:32)

Applying the Concept of "Limits" to the Rights of Muslim Women

Within the Islamic thought, one would come cross slogans such as "Islam is sound for all places and times", and "Islam is the solution". At the same time we have serious contemporary problems like: human rights, democracy, constitutional authority, and the rights of women. In solving these problems, several trends surfaced in the Muslim/Arab world, such as the following:

Polygamy in Islam

One of the most wide spread myths that has been associated with God's religion over the centuries is the issue of "Polygamy". It is customary for people when they think of Islam, or even when they embrace Islam, that they automatically have a license to marry more than one wife (upto a maximum of 4).

Men tend to fantasize that this is due to the high sexual libido that God has given them and that it is part of their Homo-Sapien right of male domination.
