The Pope

Just an hour ago the Pope died... many people, from different countries, walks of life, religions, speaking different languages, say he was a great man... God only has the right to judge and He will be the Judge on the Day we all will stand in front of Him... but definitely, the times have changed... May God have mercy upon the pope and us all and guide us to His Sirat al-Mustaqeem...

The weird thing is I was quite sad when I learnt that they were giving him the last rites. I used to be catholic and although I never really cared about the Pope and rulings anyway, this news really saddens me.

May God have mercy on him.

Nonsense... we can judge who is (was) a Good or Bad person, why do you think God gave us Laws.

If any do fail to judge by what Allah hath revealed, they are Unbelievers (Kafiroon) [5:44]

Peace be upon you all,

Albion, I meant that only God is the Fair Judge...

"(...) wait until God issues His judgement between us; He is the best judge" (7:87)

We, human beings, cannot be fully objective in our judgements... we are not given the knowledge that only God has- what is really in a person's heart and soul...

I used to be a catholic (not a very "religious" one to boot) and I am from the country that is probably mourning the pope more than any other... I have never been a big fan of his but I think that especially the last days of the pope's life and his death may make people think about God, the purpose of life, the meaning of death, make them search for the Truth... In this sense, he did a great job... I am strongly against the catholic cult of Jesus and Mary (the cult so propagated by the pope himself), saints and the worship of pictures and statues, and all others forms of shirk... I ask the Almighty to help me follow His Path and have mercy on me because of the wrongs and mistakes I have done and surely will do, willingly and unwillingly... nobody is perfect, I mean, nobody of us, mortals...

and that is what I meant by my initial post... surely, even those who have never been the followers of the catholic church will admit: an era has definitely ended with the pope's death...

to God is the ultimate return of us all anyway...

"(...) Everyone will taste death, then to us you will be ultimately returned." (29:57)

peace be upon you all

Peace albion,

We can never truly know another person, God is closer, always.  Only God can make the final judgement.

Our judgements in relation to law are merely superficial, based on our perceptions of the most basic cause and effect, i.e - finding evidence of a murder and sentencing the guilty person.

I think Layla Hanifa Amatullah's comment was in relation to that final judgement I refer to, which is much deeper and substantial than your reference to God's laws which can be seen in my example above.

My current opinion anyway.

Peace All,

I'm ambivalent on the topic. Just thought I'd share this creepy picture, as I never understood the fascination with seeing a decaying body after it has expired. Do the God-fearing not recognize that the soul has left the body?

And you see the mountains, you think they are solid, while they are passing by like the clouds. The making of God who perfected everything. He is Expert over what you do. [27:88]
