Slavery is still here and thriving especially among the countries who claim otherwise like the rich countries. It has just taken on another form, it is called : only use  our banks/dollar/pound...etc or we will enslave you/sanction you...etc. The worse slavery of all the slaveries.
Just look at the countries that are enslaved with sanctions like Venezuela, Iran....etc. MIF is the biggest user of RIBA the world has ever seen!!!
