Salaam,
Who is Nabi?It says that Nabi is the word derived from root
Noon Ba Alif and all its related words bind-up under the
same root. But It seems that AlQuraan used its all instances in different ways [that could mean different]:
First word – [
Noon Ba Alif/hamza ]
نَبَأَ or
نَبَإٍ [singular] used in
2:27 and
6:67. And also used in many other aayaats with it's different derivatives.
أَنْبَاءُ or
أَنْبَاءِ [plural] used in
6:5 and
11:12. And also used in many other aayaats with it's different derivatives.
Second word – [
Noon Ba Ba Alif/hamza ] Please note tashdeed on “ba”.
نَبِّئْ or
يُنَبَّأُ used in
15:49 and
75:13. And also used in many other aayaats with it's different derivatives.
Third word – [
Noon (Noon) Ba Waw Waw Taa ] Please note tashdeed on “noon” and “waw”.
النُّبُوَّةَ used in
29:27 and
57:26. And also in
3:79,
6:89 and
45:16.
Forth word – [
Noon Ba Ya Ya ] Please note tashdeed on only “ya”. Only single tashdeed is used.
نَبِيٍّ or
نَبِیًّا [singular] used in
3:14 and
3:16. And also used in many other aayaats with it's different derivatives.
أَنْبِيَاءَ [plural] used in
2:91 and
3:112. I am not sure if this is plural of the above word as it has two “ya”.
Fifth word – [
Noon (Noon) Ba Ya Ya ] Please note tashdeed on “noon” and “ya”. Two tashdeeds are used. Hence this word is different from the above “forth word”. Its plural also used two tashdeeds.
النَّبِيِّ used in
7:15 and
8:64. And also used in many other aayaats with it's different derivatives.
النَّبِيِّينَ or
النَّبِيُّونَ [plurals] used in
2:136 and
2:213. And also used in many other aayaats with it's different derivatives.
These are five different words used in AlQuraan with its many different derivatives or whatever you call it.
We will inshaAllah discuss and see the difference between only two words here i.e., forth word
نَبِيٍّ and fifth word
النَّبِيِّ.
First of all you have to understand what means
KAANA in order to understand this topic easily [
please click on kaana].
When you understand what
kaana means, now you are ready to see the difference between forth and fifth word mentioned above.
19:41
وَ اذۡکُرۡ فِی الۡکِتٰبِ اِبۡرٰہِیۡمَ ۬ؕ اِنَّہٗ کَانَ صِدِّیۡقًا نَّبِیًّا19:41 And mention in the Book Ibraheem. Indeed,
he became a man of truth, a prophet.Did you notice that he became a prophet? Yes, self-made prophet. Please note the word
nabiyyan [fifth word with two tashdeeds on noon and yaa] This is an open position where anyone can reach. Lets go further and see.
19:49
فَلَمَّا اعۡتَزَلَہُمۡ وَ مَا یَعۡبُدُوۡنَ مِنۡ دُوۡنِ اللّٰہِ ۙ وَہَبۡنَا لَہٗۤ اِسۡحٰقَ وَ یَعۡقُوۡبَ ؕ وَ کُلًّا جَعَلۡنَا نَبِیًّا 19:49 So when he [Ibraheem] had left them and those they worshipped other than Allah, We gave him Is-haaq and Yaqoob,
and each We made a prophet. Please note the word
nabiyyan is different than in 19:41, it has only one tashdeed [forth word] so,
We made each of them a prophet. They are not self-made nabis but Allah made them.
19:51
وَ اذۡکُرۡ فِی الۡکِتٰبِ مُوۡسٰۤی ۫ اِنَّہٗ کَانَ مُخۡلَصًا وَّ کَانَ رَسُوۡلًا نَّبِیًّا 19:51 And mention in the Book, Musa. Indeed,
he became chosen,
and he became a messenger and a prophet.Again, when kaana [became] is used, the word nabiyyan is used with two tashdeeds [fifth word].
19:53
وَ وَہَبۡنَا لَہٗ مِنۡ رَّحۡمَتِنَاۤ اَخَاہُ ہٰرُوۡنَ نَبِیًّا19:53
And We gave him out of Our mercy his brother Haroon as a prophet. There is not kaana, hence word nabiyyan is changed to single tashdeed [forth word]. Haroon was also not a self-made nabi, but Allah made him nabi for Musa.
19:54
وَ اذۡکُرۡ فِی الۡکِتٰبِ اِسۡمٰعِیۡلَ ۫ اِنَّہٗ کَانَ صَادِقَ الۡوَعۡدِ وَ کَانَ رَسُوۡلًا نَّبِیًّا19:54 And mention in the Book, Ismael. Indeed,
he became true to his promise, and he became a messenger and a prophet.19:55
وَ کَانَ یَاۡمُرُ اَہۡلَہٗ بِالصَّلٰوۃِ وَ الزَّکٰوۃِ ۪ وَ کَانَ عِنۡدَ رَبِّہٖ مَرۡضِیًّا19:55 And he became ordering to his people for salaat and zakaat and became to his Lord pleasing.
Ismael is also a self-made Rasoolan [please do not get confuse with other usage of Rasool, there is a difference in text and meaning as in nabiyy] and Nabiyyan same as Musa in 19:51.
Please note the word kaana and tashdeeds on word nabiyyan in all aayaats.
19:56
وَ اذۡکُرۡ فِی الۡکِتٰبِ اِدۡرِیۡسَ ۫ اِنَّہٗ کَانَ صِدِّیۡقًا نَّبِیًّا19:56 And mention in the Book, Idrees. Indeed,
he became a man of truth and a prophet.Idrees also self-made nabi.
If you understand the differences between those words and its text, we can continue further and see how it fits, inshaAllah.5:44
5:44 Indeed, We sent down AlTawraat, in which is guidance and light.
The prophets who submitted judges by it for the Jews, as did the rabbis and scholars by that with which they were entrusted of the Scripture of Allah, and they were witnesses thereto. So do not fear the people but fear Me, and do not exchange My verses for a small price. And whoever does not judge by what Allah has revealed – then it is those who are the disbelievers.
Please note
yahkumu and
alnabiyyoona . Yahkumu is muzaarey [present and/or future tense] as in 2:113, 5:1, 5:44,45,47, and many more. And alnabiyyoona is plural of fifth word with two tashdeeds [self-made nabis who submitted to Allah].
There are many more aayaats to be discussed in this topic. If anyone interested we will continue inshaAllah.
May Allah increase us in knowledge and guide us to His true path
