Scaredmuslimah

But you are contradicting yourself my dear . You say that god won't prescribe something harmful to us, but I have jut given you medical evidenced for how harmful fasting is, especially fasting for a whole month every year.  So yes fasting DOES harm your body and since I don't believe that god would prescribe something harmful for us either, I do not think that he has prescribed fasting for us.

I think that also. Specially because it says "God prescribed fasting as it was prescribed to those before you" and I think Jews and Xtians do not have Ramadan, or do they?  ;)
LET GO AND LET GOD!

Thank you and I love you.

Peace begins with me.

Not a ramadan, that is for sure.

Jewish faith has two major fast days and four minor fast days. The two major fasts: Yom Kippur and Tisha B’Av. They last about 24 hrs.  They may not drink, eat, bathe, brush their hair, teeth.

They also have modified forms of fasting. This can be abstaining from food but not water, fasting but not observing bathing restrictions, or not observing some of the fasting days at all. Smoking does not break their fast either. Their fasting is based on mourning times with in the faith, not a celebration like Ramadan.

Christians, well we know some observe lent. In lent you may eat and drink in small amounts, but you may not eat meat on Fridays.

Those who are fasting, I wish you the best. My Dr. also to me it was very unsafe after a certain amount of time, it was not about hydration, as much as it was that after about 12 hours your body starts to eat its own muscle by turning to the glycogen stored in muscles, to use as fuel; and starting the process of ketosis (very bad for us diabetics). He did mention fasts under that amount of time can be beneficial. When it is under 12 hours I may resume. :)

God makes it clear not to impute lies about Him.  And to God we have to answer.

Aren't we imputing lies by saying that fasting is obligatory?  aren't we imputing lies against God by saying that God said to fast for 30 days straight in the month of Ramadan?

Didn't God say that the punishment for imputing lies against Him is severe?  So why do we persist in telling lies and propagating them?

Dear Scaredmuslimah
This woman thinks too highly of herself she is not trying to refute you but she wants to refute 2:184........ And it is better for you that ye FAST, if ye only knew
To see for your self  how much she knows, just go through her "evidenc" which the researcher writes; it is likely to cause these conditions
2:183 O ye who believe! FASTing is prescribed to you as it was prescribed to those before you, that ye may (learn) self-restraint[/u]
There is no self restraint practiced by some on ordinary days; never mind when fasting. They are worse than those smokers whose studies was included in her "evidence"
RESULTS: Irritability was significantly higher in smokers than in nonsmokers before the beginning of Ramadan
Lol, as if smokers were less irritable when they tried to quit smoking at other times.

easy at all? i have just given you references showing how fasting increase crimes and damages the health and you say that God wants all this?

Ramadan saw rise in violent domestic crimes, media says
....“Throughout my 30-year career, Egypt has witnessed accidents and arguments — nothing beyond the scope of a couple fighting over some issue during the Ramadan season, but in the last few years Ramadan now is akin to the other months of the year — plagued with crime,” Mahmoud Salah, editor in chief of Akhbar El-Hawades newspaper, commented.

Quote
Migraines are three times more common during Ramadan, affecting an estimated 90 million Muslims
The cause is the  cleansing of toxins in the body accumalated due to bad eating habits outside of Ramadan.
To cure this problem eat mainly fruit and veg the week before the fast to rid your body of the toxins.
When you encounter the ignorant just say peace and walk on.

You guys are taking this verse out of context. It can be more correctly translated into "O ye who believe! Fasting is prescribed for you, even as it was prescribed for those before you, that ye may ward off (evil);"

God is not telling us that we share the same method of fasting as those before us. He's only telling us that this act of worship was prescribed for everyone.

The devil does not want you or I fasting unto God
« Reply #95 on: August 03, 2012, 06:19:54 PM »
The Christian site:
Awesome Benefits Of Fasting
The devil does not want you or I fasting unto God - period - ever! Anyone thinking about fasting unto God is a serious potential threat to Satan’s dominion on this planet.
One person willing to add fasting to their prayers and trust have the potential to do untold harm to Satan’s operations on this planet, because these three weapons the Holy Spirit has given the Body of Christ can release the power of God upon this earth and into situations like nothing else can that God has given to the Body of Christ. (Of course, the impartation of the Holy Spirit and proper usage of the Word of God and God's specific will in each matter is also included in this).
Once the devil observes a person interested in being the most effective vessel for God they can be in hindering Satan’s influence over the affairs of mankind and showing great interest in combining fasting with prayer and trust, he has certain strategies he will try to implement to hinder that’s person’s progress in moving forward.
Here is one of his most common tactics he employs to keep one from moving forward in being more skilled to use the weapon of fasting: A sense of being nearly overwhelmed.
“I can’t fast; God is asking too much of me. Demands on my life right now don’t allow me to fast. Health issues won’t allow it; my doctor doesn’t want me to either.” The list can go on and on …

When prayer and trust does not seem to be getting the job done ... consider including the weapon of fasting."
Outside of obedience to God's Word, fasting is the greatest spiritual discipline (weapon) for seeking God's intervention. Combined with prayer they together make up the most critical weapons of spiritual warfare and deliverance in our lives. While we cannot manipulate God to fulfill our desires exactly as laid out to Him, fasting moves God to fulfill His intended will over the matters in our lives.
God's will is that we are not controlled by anything but His Spirit, and fasting (combined with prayer) helps us be much more sensitive and responsive to the Holy Spirit (as well as being more obedient to God's Word). It also moves the Holy Spirit to be more inclined to be responsive to US.
